I know dogs can sometimes be overprotective during pregnancies, but I could swear that my dog has been sniffing my breasts lately. Could it be that she senses the changes in my body? She is a one year old shephard mix.

I'm sure animals can sense something ... not sure what exactly. One of my two cats who is a rescue and normally hides all day is now constantly hovering around me.

My dog was super cuddly and always sniffing my belly and breasts even before I knew I was pregnant. He was te least cuddly of our dogs. And my cat who usually hides all day and only cones out at night to eat is out most of the day and even puts up with my dog too!

Dogs actually CAN sense tht we r pregnant. I looked this up a few days ago, and apparently they can pick up on the increase of hormones.

3rd try crasher :)

I believe she could yes! Two nights before I had any idea i was pregnant OH went to touch my tummy whilst we were laying in bed and my foxy X bit him. Found out two days later i was very pregnant :)

She can probably smell the milk coming in. My friends' dog kept sniffing me when I was only 4 weeks or so when I went over there. You could tell he knew. He even moved over on the couch, so that I could sit down.

Ur dog can sense it.. Minus the fact that my one cat is EXTREAMLY friendly now :) he likes to sleep on my side when im sleeping now :S. Though I think he was a little pissy this morning, cause he took a dodge for outside when I came home lol (hes an indoor cat for 4 years, never been outdoor minus when we moved in a kennel).

:saywhat: Oh my goodness, I thought that I was the only one wondering this!! I was just thinking earlier this week why is my dog so much more affectionate than usual, wanting to cuddle under me all the time and following me step for step! (Well he's always done the last part lol, but the cuddling has definitely increased)!

Cats can too. I think its so cool. But annnoying when they head but and rub on ur Boobs

This is probably unrelated, but I have three cats that live inside and I love them dearly, they're my babies; anywho, they've been really gentle around me lately and normally they're crazy and running around like little horses. They won't jump on me like they normally do and they rub on my belly, they've never done that. Hmm, maybe animals have some sort of intuition? (:

I definitely believe animals can sense it/even hear the heartbeat when baby gets big enough. When carrying my DS, our late dog izzy favoured me over veryone in my mums house when I was over. She'd curl up on my lap and rest her head on my bump. Normally she was my mums shadow so it was quite a change. It's so sad that she isn't around for this pg, but I have the most loving memories of her that I treasure :)

My BFF had this dog, a rather large dog, very dominant, I hated him personally, not a dog person. Anyway, everytime I went over there, he would come running to me and go right for my crotch!!! EVERY TIME!!! It was so annoying and gross, and he would practically jump on me, and try to hump me. I hated that dog. Anyway, he was not neutured. So fast forward, had the baby, and the dog who used to love me, started hating me, and showing major aggression toward me. It was so wierd!!

I am hoping its a good symptom in my 2WW, my cats never purr, and they have both been sitting on my lap and purring like mad!

In my last pregnancy I had a dog follow me all the way home from the town lol it stayed outside my front door for hours lol! He must've got hungry tho cos he was gone by the evening, if I'd fed him he would have stayed lol.

Oh yea I believe Animals can definately sense-My friend went to Florida did a swim with dolphins and as soon as she entered the water this dolphin "wrapped" it's self around her- the keeper said "aw she knows your pregnant and she's protecting you" well my friend was shocked but did a hpt that same day and now her boy is 7 ;-) I loved hearing her story, just beautiful x

my cat definately knows, she normally is hidden away asleep on top of the boiler but for the past 2 months she comes and lies on my tummy everynight purring and pawing my tummy (gently) and headbutting my boobs

Yes totally, Both dogs and cat sense before sight.

for example has your dog ever known another dog was close even thought hey cant see? Its cause they sense it first. Its like dogs can tell when a dog is a puppy/older/in season.. other dogs give off hormones/pheromones and the anoimals instictively pick up on that.

I have a German Shepherd, who is always wanting cuddles..but she gets excited and jumos. However since i have been pregnant the jumping totally stopped (She still does it to OH) but is very calm with me.. and i have caught her sniffing my boobs too. So yes, they can smell the hormone.

Just instict for them to know its the mating season and so on.

Its very amazing xx

Awwww what a lovely story :)

My dog wont leave me alone, always wants to sit near me and shes even started sleeping on the floor next to me in bed :) Shes looking after me xx

This is very odd and very cool my cat is the same shes always around me and sitting on me at night she curls up on my lap or sits on my chest she purrs constantly and shes becoming like my shadow (even coming to the bathroom) :haha:

If my dogs can sense it, they don't care, because they are the same lunatics they have always been. :)

yep my exes dog was all over me when i was pg with my daughter. she would rest her head on my tummy before i ever got a bump, or jump on the sofa and sit right next to me curled up. she followed me around and protected me. it was sweet but ruther be told was pretty irritating lol xxx
