Is labour in the front or back worse?

I laboured through my back and was wondering if anyone had experienced both to be able to compare them and offer me a bit of comfort haha. Getting nervous about labour the second time around.

My last two were back to back and I had contractions in my back and tummy, I found the contractions in my back worse. General consensus seems to be that back labour is worse than labour with an anterior baby, which I would take as a comfort; if you have another back labour you know what to expect and if you feel contractions in the front this time it will probably be less painful :)

DD1 - I had front and back labour from my first contraction. I was in agony.
DD2 - I had back labour up until I was 10cm which turned into front. I much preferred the back labour, much easier to breathe through and massage out. I managed to go from 2am-7am without OH knowing I was in labour but that was only due to DD waking up and telling him once she seen me :haha: And quite honestly, I didn't even think I was in labour at the start.

Back labor imo. I had back labor and at one point it was like a 'band' all around my stomach and sides, and it radiated through my legs even when I was around 9cm.

I did have an anterior placenta which I heard could make it worse.

With my 3rd baby i did but i got unlucky and still had contractions in the front as well. I felt like my back was breaking while having my front torn lol definitely my most painful labour.

I had back labour with DS (but he wasn't back to back) and I didn't realise I was in labour as I was expecting pains to go down my front

So will be interesting to see how I labour this time

I had back labour last time and it was horrendous. Hoping i have it at the front this time 😁

Back definitely. I had back labour with my first and was begging for an apidural after being adamant I didn't want one before labour, front labour with my second and ended up going med free (she was a rapid delivery which helped to be fair) but i remember putting off pain meds expecting it to get a lot worse and it didn't really. Was still agony but a breeze compared to back labour pain imo x
