Is mucousy stool okay in formula that's been completely broken down?

My son has been put on similac alimentum after not being able to tolerate other formulas, and havin GERD.

It's been 46 hours and yesterday and today all but 1 diaper was watery and mucusy. He's also went 5 times yesterday, which is more than he's ever gone since he was 5 days old!

Is this normal? He is tolerating this formula better than ANY he's ever been on and he's actually able to keep down his food, so I'm at a loss here...

I don't know for sure, but he probably is just adjusting to it. Where poop is concerned I was told anything's ok unless it's white or red. If it was me I'd give him a few more days on it to adjust and then if he's still having weird poops bring it up to the doctor.

Thank you! He has an appointment already on Wednesday, I was just wondering if it needed any immediate help. :) :flower:

I'd say that's normal. It takes a few weeks for the new formula to get into their systems. Will is on Nutramigen and we had odd poos for over a week before they settled down. It's also normal for them to poo more as the milk is so broken down it travels through them faster. It's probably worth mentioning to the doctor, but I wouldn't be too worried x

Thank you! :)
I was just a bit worried about dehydration but I'm watching him just in case.
