Hubby and I, had our name picked out before baby was even conceived and I had told my mum who said it was very American... (we are english--from yorkshire)
and as everyone around me seems to think baby is a boy Id like some opinions please...

The name I like is

Austin Daniel

what do you all think... Ive never met an Austin..

I love the name. I am American, however I feel that if you love the name you should go for it! :) I think it's a wonderful and strong name!

I love it....but I'm American as well. I've only known a couple of Austin's.

I have a George which some people have asked if it was because of Prince George...but it's not.

If you love the name that's all that matters :) the name will fit him whatever you choose

It does sound quite American to me, but I wouldn't let that put you off or anything!

Naah, it's fine! If it was Austin Dallas, then maybe I'd think otherwise. *boom boom tiss!* No, really, it's fine. :D

It is a bit American but there was an Austin on X factor several years ago so it obviously is used in the UK. I think it's a lovely name.

I'm Canadian, have never met any Austin. I guess it does sound rather 'American' because of the city, but I don't see that as a bad thing. If anything, it means he has a cool and unique name that not so many others will have ;)

Austin Healy was a Welsh rugby player. Its pretty common in Wales. Cool name :)

Im American, I know many Austins. But who cares? If you like it, why does it matter if its an "American" name?

I'm in Bristol UK and I know an Austin, he's a pretty cool guy! I have always liked the name and don't see it as American. Yes there's the place Austin Texas, but there's also a town called Charlotte in North Carolina and nobody thinks that's an American name only!

I've known 2 Austins, neither of whom are American (both Welsh, which seems to be common going by this thread!). Anyway even if it is American in origin I don't think that should stop you using it.

I used to work as a teaching assistant in the UK and have only ever known 1 boy named Austin. It does sound pretty American to me but a lot of people have said the same about my LO's name (Lincoln) and I still have every intention of using it! xx

I'm American so I like the name! Although if I was English I'd name boys Ashley all day.

Yes it is a bit American - but I know an English Austin.

We got the same reaction to calling DD - Madison. Since we have my Mum is forever discovering other Madisons in the neighbourhood and loves it now! :)

I wouldn't have thought of Austin as an American name. My hubby has a list full of American names that I wont use because of them not being commonly known in England - not Austin though :)

I like Austin, and don't think it sounds American.

People won't have as strong opinions once your lo is here and names really grow on and with people.

I think it's a great name. If you love it then go for it! :)
