Me and my husband really love the name Olivia. The only problem is its been in the top 3 most popular names in the past 4 years. I'm not someone who wants a really out there strange name but I dont want her to be in a class where she is one of 5 girls with the same name.

Speaking to friends with Kids they all seem to think its not that common, any teachers nursery nurses etc out there or just people who know loads of little kids, is it a really common name now?

Its a lovely name - but it has been number one on the popularity lists for a couple of years, so there will be a few Olivias out there. That said, if you love it, who cares how many other people have the name x

Statistics don't lie...I check all my potential names through the Social Security website to see how popular a name is here in the US. It even tracks the upward or downward trend for X # of years. https://www.socialsecurity.gov/OACT/babynames/

Didn't the UK just release the most popular names this past week? I would gage the name based on those findings.

I absolutely LOVE the name Olivia and it would have been on my shortlist but I do think its become a bit TOO popular over the last year or so. I love it shortened to Liv or Livvy :)

How about Lydia? Sounds similar but its not as common as Olivia xx

I really like the name Olivia, I heard on the radio the other day that Olivia is currently the most popular girls name and Jack is the most popular boys name, so I guess you could say that its popular :winkwink:.

I don't think its a common name, My cousin called her 1st daughter olivia & she's the only one i know. Its a gorg name :)

My names Olivia lol, i would say its more comman now than it was when i was born (1989) , i hear alot more "Olivias" when im out in supermarkets and shops etc, i always turn thinking somones calling me haha, i was the only girl in my school called Olivia throughout my school years, nursery, infants, junoirs and comprehensive , but in a few other schools in my area was a few Olivias my age around, but not many.
Theres alot of younger kids called it now though.
Its not over comman though , like names such as Amy , Emily, Jessica, stuff like that.
I always get comments about my name, like aww thats a lovely name, as if people havent heared it before but ov they have lol, i wouldnt really say its comman, but its not uncomman , if u get my drift :)
U have good taste ;) lol haha xoxox

Yeah people call me Liv or Livvy, some family members and friends also call me Libby :) , other nicknames Livsey , Livz, Ollie , got a few nicknames lol. Like i said in above post wouldnt really say its too comman or too uncomman but its popular atm i would say :) xoxox

I only know one Olivia and I love the name its very classy :) xxx

I say if you like the name, just use it no matter how popular. When I have had kids in the class who had the same name all the other kids were impressed and they never forgot the name, obviously because there were a few. Also helped these kids in learning their last name quickly.

there are 4 In my daughters class of 6/7 year olds. I think it was more common a few years back than now

I love the name, we're planning on calling our little girl Olivia when she arrives. It is quite common now, but we love it so don't really care. My name's Claire (which isn't very common anyway these days) and when I was at school there were 5 of us in my class, as well as 5 Emma's. It didn't bother any of us one bit, we all quite liked having the same names!

It is becoming very popular. Its on our list but i don't think we'll be using it due to the amount of Olivias there are here!

Hi

I run a Brownie unit and we have an Olivia and as far as I am aware she is the only one in our district.

Our popular names are Bethany, Emily, Charlotte and Hannah

x

its a name i quite like but tbh yeah it has got a bit common now every one seems to call their lil girl olivia grace atm
xx

2 Olivias were born on my street this year and my cousin had a baby last month and called her Olivia :dohh:

I have taught Reception class for years and years and have only ever taught one Olivia.

I dont personally know any Olivias. I'm originally from Canada and I now live in North Yorkshire....if that helps at all dont know, but from my experience its not common where ive been

My little sister's name is Olivia, and in her class at school there are a few other Olivia's so she has to be known as Livvy, to avoid confusion. However I love it, and I think if you do then it shouldn't matter how common it is?
