I'm craving a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but have read on some web sites that it's not safe to eat is this true???

If there are no allergys in your family it should be alright but there is evidence to suggest that eating peanuts could increase the chance of LO developing an allergy. I avoided nuts during my pregnancy because i have a slight allergy to them. You could check with your MW see what she says :flower:

If you or your OH are not allergic then your fine hun. Well thats what my doc told me. Eat away xx

Perfectly fine, was one of my cravings last time :)

Thanks ladies for the responses... :)

It better be because we go through a jar a week in my house! :P

OH GEEZ! I sure hope it is! I've been eating it on bananas, bread, and celery like crazy.

I love food topics :)

Mm. I love a bagel with peanut butter covered in marshmallows, toasted, as a treat! I've been wondering the same thing about peanut butter. No history of allergies to it though. I figured ladies back before they came out with all these rules had healthy babies and I'm sure they ate peanut butter and other things suggested not to!

Mmmmm I've never thought about peanut butter on a bagel before... I think I'm gonna try it with mallow fluff! Thanks for the idea!

Oh yeah and as long as there's no family history of peanut allergies, your LO shouldn't get allergies form you eating it while preggers.

i ate it on toast for the first 3 months of pregnancy then someone was like "oooh your not allowed to eat that incase the baby is allergic" i was like wtf shut up ive been eating it for 12 weeks dont go and be a bitch and say things like that lol honestly!! i looked it up in my baby book and its fine! :D xxx

I ate peanut butter all the way through my first pregnancy, couldn't get enough of it. Although try not to eat too much of it, but I think it's perfectly fine in pregnancy.

mmm im scoffing toast doused in peanut butter for my brekkie..mmmmm!

Oh and reading this has made me very hungry *searches the kitchen for food* :)

With dd1 it was a complete no-no. With dd2 it was perfectly fine. With dd3 it was ok unless there was anyone with an allergy or eczema in the immediate family. This time it's ok again as long as there's no allergy. Phew! Thank goodness though, since it's one of my favourite things to eat ever

I'm also having it slathered on toast for my brekkie, now the nausea has passed...for the time being :winkwink:

i was told as long as neither parent have nut allergies its fine to eat! however peanut butter and jelly on a sandwich sounds awful LOL
Lou
xxx

My OH has a severe nut allergy and my midwife and doctor told me I didn't need to avoid eating nuts

Who knows anymore?!

as long as you dont have allergies or they run in your family. Had so much peanut butter on toast yesterday its so scrummy!

I eat LOADS of the stuff and did so wih my other two pregnancies ...no allergies :0)

Peanut butter on brown bread and then a drink of cold milk ...yummmmmmmmmmmm!!
