I'm not sure if this is normal or if it's a lip tie? I've posted before about our problems with latching and weight gain, and noticed someone posting a picture of their son's lip tie (lisaf I think...?), so thought I'd check my wee girl, and found this. What do you think?

It looks like it to me! Can you get him seen by an LC/MW/HV that you trust to evaluate it well...??

Hi, I have no experience of this but I googled it and it looks like it could be a lip-tie. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but didn't want to r&r. We had very slow weight gain and dropping of centiles so I know how worrying it can be. Hope you get it sorted. On the plus side, now my lo is on three meals a day she is clawing her way back up the graph, just didn't thrive on my milk

Looks like one to me, my son has similar but I was told they won't do anything about it as they don't believe it affects feeding, I've just had to work at turning out his top lip when we feed.

yep looks like it to me AJ has one they often go hand in hand with a tounge tie so probably a good idea to get him checked, AJ has gotten strong enough that hes overcome his toungetie but the lip tie causes a few troubles he cant turn out his top lip at all so ive got to watch his latch closely so he doesnt slip off

Ours is the same. Spoken to people about it and basically no one will snip it so just gotta put up with it. Theres not enough evidence for the Nhs apparently. One person in Manchester snips but I'm not taking a month old baby on a 3 hr car journey.

Thanks everyone. Feeding is still quite painful and uncomfortable for me, and often frustrating and difficult for her, but it looks like we'll just have to put up with it

I'm sorry - I know how you feel. Seeing them not growing and thriving as they should be when they are feeding from you is really heartbreaking :hugs:

Have you had tt checked? DS had posterior tt which wasn't dealt with til 8wks, made a big difference in his feeding

Also get tt checked by a specialist if you can. I had two ppl look at our LO in hospital by the me - no tt. Went to a specialist - small tt. Meant he could open his mouth loads wider after the snip. Still clacky with the lip tie but it's bearable
