Hello ladies.
Im 24 weeks and 2 days pregnant and went for a check up with the midwife today my Bp was 135/82. And my urine was protein ++.
Usually my Bp is between 110/60 and 100/50. Two weeks ago i had a spot of bleeding and due to previous miscarriages ran to antenatal and bp was 135/75 so it is creeping up.
Midwife sent me to antenatal day unit and 4 out of 6 bp's were around 140/80 and on two the cuff slipped down which i believe gave a false low result. She said she was happy with my Bp as it didn't go over 90 and i had two low and my bloods came back normal. Still waiting on protein count in urine, it will be back tomorrow. She has given me no advice or diagnosis and im one of those people who has to know...is it or isn't it? Does this sound like the start to you? I don't think i can wait two weeks to get my Bp checked again so im going to ring my midwife tomorrow and ask what i should do.
Thank you in advance for your help xx

I know it's easier said than done but please try and not panic or stress yourself.

My blood pressure shot up in my last pregnancy, but later than yours, I was 37 weeks. I was put on medication and had lots of appointments until I was induced on my due date. Have they not mentioned medication? I don't understand why they are waiting so long in between appointments, when mine started to rise, they saw me every other day. Phone your midwife and ask them what the plan is x

Think they are more concerned with the bottom number as well, mine got above 100 at one point, maybe that's why she's not out you on any meds? They might just monitor you more now to make sure it doesn't get any higher x

Thanks for your response im quite calm really as i know there is nothing i can do. The thing is im already on aspirin due to recurrent miscarriages so even though they haven't mentioned it the aspirin is lowering my Bp i don't think id be able to take anything else. The mw at the hospital seemed not to be concerned and just kept saying don't worry. Im just bothered by the fact that they've discharged me with no diagnosis, information or advice. Do you think it is? Thank you xx

Yeah i read on nhs website that if bottom is 15 over your usual or top is 30 over its a cause for concern. Why haven't they taken this into consideration? I feel a little let down :( x

Im sorry to hear about your miscarriages :( Id ring your midwife tomorrow and ask them what they are going to do in terms of monitoring etc, I was put under a consultant when it first started to increase, until they decided to induce. Hope you get some answers soon x

Its ok, i don't dwell on it, life is what it is and everything happens for a reason. I have my little miracles and i don't want anything happening to them!! Its really weird like it all makes sense now. Preeclampsia can apparently be a reason for recurrent miscarriage, and now this is happening. I think i will ring my consultant!! Thank you for your advice!! Xx

Go to midwife led unit/birth unit and request bpcheck each day if it puts ur mind at rest. GooGod luck x

Aw hun, I hope it's just you in the heat of the moment with a higher bp.
I had pre eclampsia with my first at 38 weeks.
With my second I had pregnancy induced hypertension from 28 weeks. It was controlled very well with bp meds and lots and lots and lots of checks and hospital stays but in the end I made it till 39 weeks :)
I hope all is ok x

Ps it's very unlikely to get pe before 20 weeks. My bp went up before 20 weeks and my consultant said she'd never had anyone with pe before 20 weeks x

i'm hoping it's just a one time thing for you xx

i had the same thing happen to me, it was a one time thing, i had a lot going on in my life and my dr said my stress and anxiety was the culprit. just to be on the safe side though, i had to go to L&D once a week until the day i gave birth to be monitored for an hour. i also had to do a 24 hour pee collection (ewww! lol).

fx'd for you!
