Hi ladies

Ethan was prem and is about 11lb now but only was on 5 4oz bottles - maybe one 5oz bottle a day ( always put the 5oz in just incase).

He's always had problems with wind. We upped his Infacol and that seemed to sort it, but the last few days he's shown the same symptoms as before - he suddenly gets agitaged when feeding and then won't have any more. The last 3 days he's been having only about 3oz per feed and waking more frequently to fit an extra few oz in, but still having less per day.

I'm thinking this is his wind rearing it's ugly head again. (Have tried gripe water too btw). It's got to be wind that's making him wake more frequently and take less per feed? I keep seeing ppl writing about silent reflux - am I right in thinking this is like heartburn and would be pretty much constant? If so its not this he has as he's only agitated when feeding and just after.

Should I:

A - get next size up teats or variflow teats?
B - get comfort milk?
C - get different bottles (on CTN anti colic with the vent but they're rubbish)

Or all of the above?

That happened to us, and eventually developed into full blown reflux. Alex lost the plot halway through the feed and we struggled to get her to take anymore - and im sure as a fellow prem mum u know it worries you as you need LO to put on weight!

Comfort milk is made for babies with wind/colic etc and can help but it sure as hell didnt help us and we had to buy bigger teats for it to go through so waste of money.

We were recommended at first to get some Gaviscon from the doc. Which helped a lot.

You could also try SMA Staydown, we love this!!!!!!! As long as you make it to the instructions, you will not need bigger teats.

Reflux is common in most prems ;)

Please don't read and run!

Thanks sb! He's so much better than he was!
After more research I think I'll continue on the stage 1 milk and invest in some proper anti colic bottles.

When he's refusing the milk is he arching his back?
