Isla

I instinctively know it as eye-lah. I like it too but and concerned about mispronunciation and spelling! But I think MOST would say it as you want in pronounced

I've heard it's pronounced Eye-la, (think island), but I guess anyone can pronounce it how they want.

I don't know any Islas irl, just heard about them on BnB. I love the name, wanted it for a girl. However, DH strongly dislikes it. If we have a girl, the first one will be Sara. I'm still pulling for Isla for another one though, to me it even fits in with Sara, both short, in an "a"...

Sara & Isla go perfectly! (work on that hubby!)

Ugh asked hubby about and he said NEVER..says it sounds like eyeball to him...

I love the name, I know "of" a few children with the name but don't know them personally. I've always known it as eye-lah.

My niece is an Isla (3 in Jan). I personally know of 4 others... ( including my next door neighbour who just turned 2). Nearly all of them are 3 and under. It's super popular round here which does put me off it a bit.

I pronounce it "Eye-La"

I love it. DH does not. I don't know anyone that has used this name personally (156 babies named Isla in California last year, 500k born). I live near San Francisco, California.

I like filler names especially if you can use them as a nickname like "Lola Mae" or "Erica Jean"

My niece is Isla and I love the name. It's really popular here in Scotland, I know at least 4 Islas. My friend just had a baby called Isla but spelt Aila.

Our baby girl is going to be Isla Irene (Irene after my grandma). It's not popular here at all and I've had a number of people ask me how it's pronounced, but they all think it's lovely when I tell them (eye-la, think Island). I had some concerns about mispronunciation and it potentially becoming too trendy/popular, but I think the spelling alone will curb it from becoming the next Sophia or something. And she may have to correct people initially, but I don't think its a hard name to remember/figure out.

Pretty! What will her brother be named?

We don't know what we are having and babba will be here next week!

I love Isla but my hubby won't have it! It's my first choice of girls name. Such a beautiful name x

Love the name!! This baby will be Isla Imogen if a girl. I know it's very popular at the moment but I only know of 1.

Isla (eye-la) was my grandmother's name, and my niece is named after her (2 years old).

I love it, funnily enough though, my grandmother hated her name. It's such a pretty name and she was a real tomboy!

Sorry... Just saw this! Isla's brother will be Declan Richard (Richard after both of our fathers).
