hey ladies.. we just bought a citreon xsara picasso lx 2002 model. Just wondering whether it has isofix or not. sent dh out to look but he couldnt see it but thats not to be trusted! xx

Isofix was standard from (I think) 2008, so it's quite unlikely your 2002 model will have it. Occasionally older cars were fitted with it, but that's rare. You can have it fitted retrospectively, though.

Not sure but my husband's 2002 car and my 2004 has them so it's more common then you might think.

If it's not installed, you may find that you can install it yourself (or pay to have it done). I have 2003 Ford Focus which didn't come with isofix. I went to Halford's and bought the kit (about 20 quid) and we installed it ourselves. My husband said it was pretty easy.

Can I please hi-jack your thread to ask you a question? We also have three boys and they are squashed in the back of our Astra, can you comfortably fit your three across the back of your new car? It's the one car we've been looking at getting too. Thanks in advance

Just a heads up though, apparently because isofix wasn't common in pre-2004 vehicles, these cars weren't not tested by the car seat companies. I was in contact with both britax and maxi cosi and neither could recommend using an Isofix base or seat in either of our cars because even though they have the clasps for it, they've never been tested. So it's up to us to go try different seats and decide ourselves if we still want to use them.

We have a 2014 Picasso and yes they have three separate seats - I've carried 3 kids in child seats in ours several times with bags of room.

We have a 2014 Picasso and yes they have three separate seats - I've carried 3 kids in child seats in ours several times with bags of room.

Thank you, my three year old looks very cute squashed between the two seats in the back but I'm guessing he's not very comfortable

thanks Mindutopia. i wouldnt feel comfy unless they were soldered onto the chasis. ill just be using seatbelted seats since i didnt find any isofix bits in there.

thanks maggs. they were never tested because of the storage compartments under the floor. most people i have seen and spoken to have just opened the door up and put the leg down to the bottom of it.

hey george. yep they are pretty comfy in there. It can be a pain to get baby in but only because i have to clip him in and out as we use the car seat off his travel system and not one i could just leave in the car all the time. Ive put a photo on of the older two from yesterday so you can see. xxx

Our cars don't have the under floor storage, they just weren't tested apparently because they didn't routinely do any pre 2004 vehicles.
