It Figures!!! (Rant)

So, DH and I have hit the one year mark and I have an appt with my gyno tomorrow. I am planning on asking what the next steps are, share my charts, etc. And wouldn't you know, I get a UTI tonight!!! Ugh.

A few years ago, I would get a UTI after each time I BD. The doctor said it was called Honeymoonisitis (or something like that). He said that some women are prone to UTIs especially if they don't urinate and then clean up after BD. Since then, I have been very careful to clean up, etc after BD, even if I am really tired and don't feel like getting up. (There have been a few times that I have been lazy, but not many.)

Wouldn't you know it, but last night was one of those lazy times. I figured, I haven't had a UTI in years, what are the chances of me getting one now? We wouldn't have even BD, but I think I am ovulating right now! Ugh...I am so stupid to take that risk right before my appt!!!

Hopefully this won't affect too much, unless they ask for a urine sample...the bladder spasm medicine turns urine brown. I was going to try not to take it, but I am miserable. So, for tonight I will be drinking a lot of water and taking cranberry supplements! Ugh!

Sorry for the rant, but I am so mad at myself right now!!!

I feel your pain. I have had 4 in the last year. They are miserable .... I hope your appointment goes perfectly and you get lots of answers.

I was going to say the same thing. If I were you I would take them the week you are BD'ing.

I am sorry you go through this. I get yeast if I don't wash up. It sucks.

Thanks ladies! It ended up not being as bad as I thought. I thought they were going to want a urine sample, which would have been embarassing since the bladder spasm medicine turns my urine orange. To make matters worse, I am a military wife, so there is no privacy in the bathrooms...I would have had to walk past a bunch of Navy men!!!

Luckily, they didn't ask for a sample. She just took an extra swab when she did my pap. Turns out I definitely do have a UTI as I suspected and they gave me an antibiotic. So, all that anxiety for nothing!!!

Otherwise, my appt went really well. The doc is getting the ball rolling with all the lab work and everything. She took extra swabs today, referred me to get an ultrasound to make sure everything looks okay, and has me on track to get the lab work done according to my cycle. I am really excited to get all of this started. I think it will really give me peace of mind after trying with no success for the last year. I have also been sexually active for about 12 years without a hint of a pregnancy (I was on BC for most of that time, but I am still kind of worried).

Over all, I feel really good about today. Thanks for all the suggestions ladies! I am definitely going to go out and buy more cranberry supplements and be much better about drinking my water!
