Hi,

Had Eloise 3.5 weeks ago and have been discharged by my midwife but the last couple of days my c-section wound has been red in places and getting really quite itchy. I can't really tell if it smells but it's not obvious. Does it sound like it could be getting infected?

The redness is not a good thing, but the itchiness can also means it's healing
I still have problems with mine, it goes red above and below the scar and then calms down after I put savlon on, but mine does have a horrible whiff to it.

See what it's like tomorrow and if you're worried see a doctor xx

Mine is red and itchy and the nurse said that means it is healing. Mine did get infected and the area started to open up and obviously you can see when it is opening up but the infection was clear as it was leaking and scabby however I felt extra pain a few days before I could see the infection. My doctor gave me antibiotics and I had to see the nurse every 2 days to get it checked on and dressed (a week between appointments this week though). If it is infected you need to see the GP and they should give you a emergency appointment (the receptionist made me wait a week and got in trouble for not giving me a same day one) so if your worried I would go see as it is better safe than sorry! :flower:

I had to come back to this as I realized red could mean two different things. If it is like a red bruise and itchy it should just be healing but I guess mine was red where it was opening up too. So if it looks like it is opening up and the inside fleshy bit under the skin is showing on the outside then make an appointment to see your GP today or tomorrow!

Glad I saw this as I was going to ask too.

My wound is also red and itchy. Half of it is definately healing but the other half doesn't seem to be so much.

Itchy is normal. If it's really red, it might be infected! I'd get it checked out.

Itchy is normal but if it were me i would get it checked out just in case xx

It doesn't look like it's opening up at all - gonna keep an eye on it over the weekend and make an appointment next week if it doesn't improve. Thanks all.

Like the other girls have said itching is fine but redness isnt. Mine went red and I've got an abcess on my scar, so I'm on antibiotics for it. Make sure your washing it with water a few times a day and see your doctor to see if its infected xxx
