Hi Junebug,
How did you find out you were having a boy? I noticed you're only 12 weeks. I'm dying to find out and so the earlier the better.

I had a CVS done to make sure the chromosomes were normal, and they can also tell you the sex that early! It's not routinely done for finding out the sex though, since there is a 1/300 risk of miscarriage in most centres. The hospital where I work quotes a 1/1000 risk, and at 38 my risk of chromosomal abnormality is 1/104 so for me, the reassurance was worth the smaller risk!

I think I want to get the CVS done as well given the place where I'll get my test done quotes roughly the same amount of risk as yours. What week does it need to be done? Was it painful?

Like an uncomfortable pap test, that's it! It's done between 11-13 weeks, had mine done at 11 weeks and 6 days . Results are available in 2-3 days.
