Hey all, not been around for a while as trying to be relaxed about things, but we're waiting now for a our first appt at the assisted conception unit. Seems like IUI/IVF is going to be a reality!

Here's us:

We've been TTC since Oct 2008. Bloods show ovulation fine, and SA good too. Got referred to Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital's Jessops wing gyneacology dept after a year, and finally saw Dr Jivraj in Jan 2009. Since then had ultrasound, fine. Then HSG, which showed a strange blocked tube/missing tube. Had MRI, which suggested a tube missing (unicornate uterus) which was confirmed by hysteroscopy in Sept 2010. Meanwhile been on clomid 50mg for 5 months (on my last month now, as I took a month's break).
So finally get to see the FS Jan 2011 to hear what we knew all along. No detectable infertility problems, unicornate uterus shouldn't affect fertility.

Now waiting for an appointment at the assisted conception unit.

We've been told we'll be able to have upto 6 cycles of IUI and one IVF...sigh. hope it doesn't come to that!

But just wondering how IUI works - do the cycles run one after the other??
Does anyone know what the waiting times are like for IUI or IVF at Jessops

I live in the U.S., But I have had 3 IUI's total.

Some doctors prefer to do 2 IUI's back to back in one month to insure the :sperm: are there when you ovulate.

When I did my IUI's I did them every month, only once a month. I heard some people had problems with Over Stimulation of ovaries and would have to wait some months out. I never had this problem.

I hope that answers your questions???

It's really up to you and your facility. I'm sure ours wanted us to do it back to back months but we never did. Our first 3 was spaced out over a year and the 4th was the following year. Going back to back would probably give you more regular cycles to work with but it just wasn't realistically possible for us due to financial and work scheduling reasons.

As long as things progress OK and tests come back fine, then you should be able to do each IUI back to back... one each cycle. It's just a step by step process. But really, once you get through that first month, it's a lot easier. Less poking and prodding to be done! lol.

I'm going in Monday for my mid-cycle u/s to see how my follicles responded to the Clomid this month. If all looks good I should have my IUI on Tues...

I know it's a bit overwhelming at first, but it's nothing that bad. All will be OK hun.

Best of luck!!!!

Hi I had my 1st IUI today and I was told that if this one didn't work then I could do the next straight away as long as I get AF on the right days (my clinic time it so that there is no treatment done over a weekend).

I had my first IUI a few days ago, but I plan to have them done back to back months so that I don't waste any more time. Fortunately we are in a position in which we can do this, and there are no wait times, etc for anything, and our office is open on weekends, etc. I would rather just go for it all at once, as long as emotionally I/we are able to handle it...

Thanks for all the feedback guys :-)

Happy we don't have to worry about the finance side of things, and my work is very flexible. I guess it just depends on timing for wkds etc...

Fingers crossed for you all :)
