Hi ladies, my oh and I have been ttc for 2 years. I've had blood tests which show I'm ovulating and hsg didn't show any problems. Oh sperm is fine aswell. I guess we have come into the unexplained category.
We were told to go away and think about when we wanted to start the iui but haven't yet been given a great deal of info. I know the basic principle of it but I was told I'd have to go along to learn how to inject myself. I notice some posts saying ladies having iui are on clomid but I was told there's no point putting me on clomid cos I ovulate on my own.
What is it that I'll be injecting myself with and also is that done on a daily basis? I'd also really like to know how you ladies got on with the iui.
Thanks for reading ladies:flower:

They will probably still put you on clomid and HCG injection. The clomid will help you mature follilces ... the higher follicle count the better chance of you conceiving. You doctor will probably tell you to do an HCG trigger (either Pregnyl or Ovidrel), this is only one injection (very easy to do -- and I hate shots). Even though you already ovulate on your own, it's easier for the doctor to pin point the exact day to do the IUI (or at least that's what my doctor does anyways). There is one other form of injections which is Follistim or gonal. These drugs will increase the amount of mature follicles you have. (in my case I only did 3 injections of these in one month which resulted in 3-4 follicles. When I was just on pills I only matured 1 follicle.

Hope this helps a smidgin! :)

Toots3495~ Clomid CAN be a great thing even if you ovulate on your own. I didn't use injectables myself. My DH had a slightly low sperm count and low morphology - I ovulate totally fine on my own. I took Clomid and we did an IUI and it worked the first try. VERY SADLY I just lost the baby @ 7 weeks  but I will without hesitation try that again in a few months if we don't get preggo again on our own in 3 cycles. (I have to wait after the m/c before any fertility drugs are reintroduced) Clomid can help you produce more eggs which increases your chances of catching that 1 eggy and also can improve the quality as well- so it is worth taking for sure! Best of luck and BFP vibes to you!! :dust:

Thanks ladies.
That has answered my questions. Holly I'm very sorry to hear of your loss:flower:
May I just ask 1 more thing, is there an increased chance of multiples when having iui or is that just ivf?

Aw, thanks :hugs: There is an increased chance with both- with Clomid you can produce more than 1 egg- there is a 1 in 10 chance of multiples- so it's there- but not extremely high- I *think* there is a higher chance of multiples with IVF But I personally haven't gone there yet.
