This is my first started thread on this site and I just hope it doesnt disappear quickly and that there are others out there in a similar situation. I currently have endometriosis, confirmed via MRI. I've seen two specialist, one endo and the other fertility, and both say that surgery isn't an option due to past surgeries (unrelated to fertility) becoming complicated. So the endo specialist recommended we try IUI and get pregnant as soon as possible to help relieve endo symptoms. The endo specialist said that my endo was minimal and so far hormone treatments haven't made it better and an HSG showed I had clear tubes and everything looked fine.

I guess my question comes down to; is it a waste of money and emotions to try IUI without the surgery to remove the endo? Is there anything that may help my odds that doesn't involve making my endo worse? I'd also like to hear of any women out there who have conceived with endo and without the surgery or a long gap between surgery and conceiving. I'm just trying not to lose all hope in this long TTC journey.

Thanks!
Mel

I have severe stage 5 endo and ad 2 major surgeries to remove and months of hormone treatment it all depends on how severe it is, I would go ahead and try you never know,
Have you tried prostap or zolodex?? I ave been on prostap fr 3 months before ivf and again I'm on prostap for my next ivf it really does make a difference,
Good luck

I haven't heard of either of those meds but I'll have to bring it up at my next appointment. We have to save up if we're going to try IUI, so it might be another 6-9 months yet and maybe something like that can help us prepare. The only real symptoms I have are the slightly long and super-super painful AF's, but if it can relieve that a little and give us a better chance at conceiving sooner, that would be awesome. Thank you for the response and ideas!

Hey mkwalsh, i fell pregnant whilst on clomid and with a 6cm endometrioma on the left ovary. Fell pregnant twice in fact, but lost both. I hope that gives you some reassurance that endo and medication still means people can fall pregnant, x

They are both an injection that stop your periods I think if your are in us it's zolodex injection it really makes a difference.

Like bernardblack said it can still happen but anything that helps while your waiting is definatly worth it.:hugs:
