Hi everyone,

My DH and I have been TTC # 2 for 20 months with no luck whatsoever. His first SA (done in April) showed he had 0% normal morphology. His motility was 44% and although we don't know the actual count the Dr said it was good. He just had his 2nd SA and the Dr immediately called for him to come in for an appt to go over the results. We are both fairly convinced it's probably not great so I am trying to do as much research as possible on any options we might have so we are armed with questions for our appointment!

I had a look on a local fertility clinic site about IUI and it said it works best if the sperm is "suboptimal". So I guess I am just looking to hear from any of you that have had IUI with MFI. Any advice would be greatly appreciated or any information you have ie. do you know what would be considered "suboptimal".

Thank you all :hugs:

From what I've read, I think iui is good for mild male factor, such as low motility. However they still have to swim to the egg on iui, so it's not ideal, and chances in normal healthy couples are something like 20%. We were unsuccessful with our first iui, but will try another one. I'm not sure about morphology being 0 though. I'm sure your dr will discuss other options with you.

Thanks Lanet - I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I guess if they still have to swim to the egg chances are it wouldn't work for someone with 0% normal morphology. Sorry your first attempt didn't work but FX for your second :)

Have you heard the actual results yet? I had my husband on a vitamin regimen for several months following 2 bad S/As and his most recent want had improved to normal. There might still be some things you can do to improve it.

No we are getting the results in a week. We've just ordered a months supply of Fertilaid as figured it was worth a go! I guess only time will tell! :)

Why do you have to wait a week! I wouldnt be able to wait!

I know - it's brutal!!! He went for his test on Tues afternoon, and they called early Wednesday but the first appt they gave him was for a week today. Couldn't believe it! Anyway for time being trying to forget about it and just hoping we can do some research/talking in the meantime and just prepare ourselves for bad news then if it's not it will be a good surprise!

I would've had to at least have them read over the phone. I hate waiting. They always either read them over the phone or put it in our chart so we can look online. That's good that you aren't stressing. Maybe it will be good news!

I kind of doubt it but you never know! I guess in their eyes getting results from a SA isn't high priority :( Although I kind of feel right now that ignorance is bliss cause it's always hard to get bad news. Have a great weekend :)
