:hi: Hello Everyone

I think I should have said Hi Earlier but have posted this for some advice.
We are currently having IVF, we had egg collection yesterday and collected 18 eggs which I thought was fantastic although told today by clinic that they would have usually have hoped for more. The clinic said yesterday that although they had tested my DH sperm in the past & it was fine that after an hour most was twitching & not swimming so would need to do ICIS. Got the call earlier to say only 3 have fertilized and as we are having PGD(I have a chromosome translocation) I am really worried that we won't have anything to implant after they do the biopsy on thursday. Has anyone been through anything similar and could offer any advice?

Why didn't they do ICSI like they said? Can they do emergency ICSI?
I do have some hope for you though. Both cycles I only had 2 embryos by day 2 - though I have never done PGD because I am a poor responder, I did get a bfp both times so it is very possible to get pregnant and have a baby from only 3 embryos.

Thanks honeycat they did do ICSI and thanks for the hope.

Hi Hun

Im the one with the problem and after a mega dosage of stimm drugs I ended up with 5 eggs and 4 were immature and fragmented(i Im 27). So we only got 1 egg, they switched from IVF to ICSI. The embryo was grade 1 and at day 3 we transferred, which ended up with BFP. However I did miscarry at 7 weeks. But still its a positive story that 1 is enough and I would love to be in your situation with 3 embryos.

I want to send you some good luck vibes and be positive it can happen. As my consultant said, they all came from 1 embryo (natural pregnancy).

We have just had IVF and our hospital put me on the short protocol of 10 days. I had 6 follies, 6 eggs, all fertilised, 2 grade A´s transferred and 2 Grade A´s frozen. The embryologist said that she would much prefer to see 6 follies than 20 follies as the lesser amount is easier to get to for egg collection and also she says that its proven that with less follies the eggs are better quality. She says they normally like to see between 5 and 15 follicles ideally.

I guess they were pretty correct since although i only had 6 eggs, all were fantastic, produced great embryos and we are 7 weeks pregnant first time round!!!

I think your hospital are talking crap basically!!! lol, take no notice.

Good luck hun with the procedure :hugs::hugs::hugs:
