Hi,

I have looked over these threads and couldnt find any relating to treatments abroad so thought I would start one.

We have being trying to have a baby for about 10 years. We have tried IUI here in the UK but unfortunately even after taking Clomid and injections my eggs weren't maturing. I have a high BMI and so I spent some time trying to lose weight which again didnt help, having underactive thyroid doesnt help.

After years of BFN's we decided to stop trying but we wernt preventing either and guess what...nothing happened. I felt so tired and it was taking a toll on my health too...We gave up for nearly 5 years.
Last year in July we were literally sent an angel...I was helping a family friend (i didnt know her at all) who had gotten into some trouble and had her baby taken away...their little 6 month old was staying with her friend who couldnt look after her anymore and the social said they would take her into care...I felt really bad and offering to help...I was in the position to so I did...this little girl stayed with us until just a few months short of her 2nd Birthday and then her grandparents took her to India to live with them...We did apply for SGO but as they are 'blood relatives' they had preference...
Since she left I have felt so sad we miss her so much, we loved her as our own and gave her everything we could...I feel so bad when I see her and she is missing us so much too...She is and always will be our little princess...even our own child will never replace her but she has made me realise how much I want a child again.

I once again started searching the interest to re-educate myself and I came across IVF clinics in Czech Republic. I looked into their stats and they seem to have good success rates and less than half the cost of IVF here!! Also like the UK they dont have an issue with my weight or my under active thyroid!!! WOW

I have spoken to a clinic called Reprofit and I am going through IVF Donor egg at the moment. We wanted to try with our own eggs but felt as it didnt work before I didnt want to spend the money trying again...

They ask you to have scans/tests done here before the treatment so I have had my ultra sound done and all looks ok...
My hubby had his test today and we are waiting on results...
I am waiting on my AF so I can have my hormone blood tests done...

My periods have always been so irregular and so I really hope it comes soon...according to my lining I should start within a few days....so I am waiting...

Is anybody else going to Czech for treatment? Or has anyone been?
Would be lovely to hear from you.

Sorry was so long...but thanks for reading.
xx

Sorry hun, maybe the assisted conception thread will have more people.
I go there to discuss my IUI and the like.

Good luck!

Hi Hope

I am doing natural IVF at Reprofit with OE. I booked my scan for day 9 with Ultrasound Direct but I usually ovulate early so may have to take the trigger the same day and fly to Brno on Friday. So far I found them, very responsive, they answered all my questions very promptly but I do not have any experience with them yet. there is a thread on FF: https://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=326556.350;topicseen ladies are very helpful and many do DE cycles.

We opted to go to CR mainly because of the cost, we had 3 failed IVf in the UK and the cost is just so much higher then in Europe. I am still trying to work out the logistics of going to CR, seems a little challenging with a natural cycle cos the dates are not settled up until the last moment. I think you can only fly with Ryanair. Otherwise people fly to Prague and take a train to Brno. hotels are not expensive.

Hi Briss,

I did consider OE but I guess I was a little worried about it as my eggs wernt maturing the last time we tried...and cost is a big reason why we choose CR too, so from hearing good success stories from others who have have DE there we decided this route.

When are you planned to go? How long do you need to be there?

I have such irregular cycles that I just could'nt put myself through the whole stress of going OE...

I have found Reprofit to be good so far in responding and everything and we are also using yourivfjourney, they are based here in the UK and have been through exactly the same so for a fee that help arrange everything.

My hubby and I are both Indian and I know they only use Caucasian donors so worried about that...although we would except any child but as far as the community we live in...it maybe a challenge and call me protective but I would'nt want my child to face any questions...
Doesnt help that I am not very sure on how all this genetics things work too well, with who the child could look like...
Any help would be appreciated.

CR do have a higher success rate all round so I am sure BFP will be waiting for you xx

Hope, I know what you mean, it's rather stressful. my cycles are fairly regular but I tend to ovulate early on day 11 (which is Saturday) but sometimes I ovulate later so I cant book anything until I am sure which is going to be a day before O, basically booking everything in the last minute. My body does not like to be managed so it does not respond to ovulation suppression meds so it's all a bit messy I just hope the doctors at retrofit can catch my egg in time. After 3 failed IVF I know a few tricks how to keep that egg in (although reprofit does not agree with me but at this point I believe sometimes I just know better)

I was thinking about yourivfjourney but in the end I found reprofit co-ordinators are so helpful that I do not think I need any more help.

Hi Briss, I am only just getting my head around all this cycle stress...
I feel for you having to wait last minute to book everything...Im already stressing for Jan!
Very true you know your body better than them so just go off what you know works...

I also spoke to Reprofit directly a few weeks back and they were pretty much saying I should go through youivfjourney tbh im not sure yet what a difference it will make but so far they have been good...they just kind of let me know when to have tests and scans etc...only thing is they havent given me a 'plan' of other tests i may need...so lets see..been quiet over the last week as we are just waiting on results...

I have joined FF thanks for the tip...everyone is so good over there xx

I have seen you joined the FF thread. it's more lively so let's talk there

I've done several cycles with ISCARE in Prague. Though I'm not a huge fan of Czech culture, especially their views on outsiders, I still would recommend going there for IVF.

DH and I rent and apartment and live in Prague during my fresh cycles, and for frozen ones, I have monitoring done in the US and fly out to Prague for a few days for the transfer. I guess if you are in the UK, it's much easier and no relocating required. The Czech clinics are very good and I'm happy with our IVF cycles so far. We haven't had a full-term baby yet, but I've conceived three times- something DH and I could never do on our own and never had happen with meds or IUI.

The first baby we conceived, I miscarried. It was likely due to a medication oversight with a doctor in the UK who took me off progesterone early against my RE's orders (our standard passport visa ran out and we had to leave the Schengen area, stopped over in the UK for a while), so I'm a bit prejudiced against the UK health system at this point. I also had a lot of bleeding during that pregnancy though, so it could have been unrelated. I've been put on other medications since then.

The second baby we conceived was prefect but ectopic and I lost my left tube. I had my surgery and hospital stay in Prague, and the cost was also much, much cheaper than what it would have been in the US. However, the practitioners there didn't speak English and it was a frustrating, confusing experience. They did let DH stay in the room with me for the entire hospital stay. I really appreciated that.

The third baby we conceived ended up being a chemical m/c. That was from my last FET.

I'll be going back to Prague sometime between January and March for my next frozen transfer, and if that doesn't work, DH and I will be moving back out to Prague for a fresh cycle in the summer. ISCARE is treating us for possible immunological issues on top of what we've already discover. If we don't have a baby by the time we do another fresh cycle in Prague, we'll be transferring to an insanely expensive clinic in the US that does CCS (which isn't done as ISCARE).

Hi Bunyhuny,

I did look at ISCARE but for some reason something was pulling me towards Reprofit...so went with them.
I've heard it is cheaper to rent apartments over there instead of staying in a hotel, we need to go to Brno so I might look into what I can find there.
Promising to hear that that helped you conceive 3 times and so sad to hear that you havent yet had a full term baby from them.
When you go back to Prague In Jan, are you using the same clinic?

xx

Hi,

First of all what a sad story, but your time with that little girl can never be taken away, and how good of you to help her when you could.

I had IVF in the UK, I am currently deciding whether on not to travel to Hungary to try for a second child, its cheaper and success rates are higher.

I am 36, waiting on blood tests results to tell me how my fertility is, fingers crossed its not gone down too much since 2012.

I have thyroid issues as well :-(

Hi again. Yes, we'll be going back to ISCARE. We have two more frozen embryos that we'll be transferring. They're going to try some new meds. If we don't get a BFP, we'll be doing one more fresh cycle with them (and the frozen ones that go along with it). If after that we still haven't succeeded, we'll be taking a break while we save up the $30,000 to do a round of PICSI with CCS at CCRM.
