...*gulp*

start next week, and am heading over to clinic for injection training...feeling fine about the process in general, but quite nervous about having to inject myself!!!

My head knows i've got to do it, and i know i will do it, but i'm worried abut the anxiety that i'll hate it, and that my days will be filled up counting down to when i have to do it!

Any info, shared experiences (as long as they're not toooooooo gruesome, lol), or advice would be very gratefully received!

Thanks ladies x x x x

ps like alot of you, i've been in this forum for yonks, feel like i'm making a bid for freedom, lol!!!!

Hi

I don't know if all clinics are the same but mine gave me an autoinject which you just load with the needle and press a button. You never even see the needle go in. I can all my injections like this except the HCG.

It's really not that bad at all (promise!) I was doing it in my leg for a while but was bruising badly, the girls here told me to do it in my tummy, which I was very squeamish about at first but it is SO much better.

You will get used to it very quickly and it's all in a good cause after all!!

Good luck!

MrsH its not too bad, they dont hurt too much. And i only bruised if DH didnt hold the needle in exactly at 90 degrees. I found the mixing of the liquid and powder difficult and had DH do it. He refused at the begining and he was a pro and in love with doing it.

I would advise you to do a test run yourself with the nurse. Our clinic did a quick demo infront of us and we struggled the 1st night on our own.

Goodluck

Thanks for explaining that ladies. We have an FS appointment and I think if we are OK they may recommend ICSI. Can you you use the auto inject for the progesterone after implantation too? x

Good luck. It is hard to do the first injection (I think it took me 15 minutes), but after that it is pretty easy, until you get to IM injections, and then after a few of those they get to be like old hat. What I did was watch videos online. SQ injections I did in the belly, quick and easy. I did find it the needle was bigger then 30G though it helped a lot to ice the area before hand - that way I didn't feel it. 30G needles are so small you shouldn't feel it.

thanks ladies - honeycat, loving the numb-the-site tip!!!

Unfortunately Mrs G, I haven't got the autoinject thingy - was really hoping for that badboy! I've got an array of needles, barrels and syringes, and nearly papped myself when i saw the larger one of the lot! I used to work with injecting drug users, so kinda got to know "how to inject" (obviously never did it myself, lol), but the thought of doing it on myself.....

i've got my practice sesh next week, i've gotta take all my meds and needles to the clinic for training, and i start on thurs.......tehe, i'll be on here friday sending out a plea to the experienced injecters cos i've gone to pot!!!!

Thanks for helping chaps, will update next week

TTFN x
