I have been ttc for a while now and I am currently on clomid?

My doctor has advised me that she is going to try me on 2 more cycles of clomid and then refer me for fertility treatment.

Apparently I am entitled to 3 free rounds of IUI OR 1 free round of IVF. How do I know which one to go for? I know the chances are a bit higher with IVF but I would only get 1 free round.

Any information on this will be much appreciated.

P.s. just to say that at the moment we have unexplained infertility. I am actually ovulating with the clomid.

Thanks x

Depends really on what has been diagnosed as a problem. With severe MF, IVF with ISCI is the only way to go. Do you have blocked tubes? Then IVF is also the right way. Otherwise, three times at IUI may actually give you better odds at a :bfp:. Hard decision, but I'd do all the tests first before deciding.

Hi DancingLeigh

We had unexplained infertility and 100mg Clomid made me ovulate but we didn't get pregnant. I got my BFP with the 2nd IUI. I posted this thread after my first IUI appointment which I thought might help you.

IF you are in the UK I'm surprised that you have been offered an either / or choice... I thought that they had to offer you at least 1 IVF cycle. I know things do vary from region to region but I think its a bit odd that they are asking you to choose. We were offered 3 IUI AND 1 IVF if the IUI didn't work.

Also, the ladies who have had IVF will tell you that IUI is a lot less invasive and less stressful. I had no faith that it would work but am currently nearly 8 weeks pregnant and things are looking good so far so it might work for you too!

Good luck

Millnsy x
