i 'like' the infertility network UK page on facebook and they have just posted a trial IVF thing, i thought some people might be interested!

Research study request from IVF Hammersmith:

The use of the hormone kisspeptin in IVF treatment

We are currently conducting a trial of a hormone called kisspeptin in IVF treatment. The study will investigate whether kisspeptin can stimulate egg maturation in IVF therapy. Research cycles will be fully funded and participation does not affect eligibility for future NHS care.

In order to take part you need to have:
∙ Age 18–34 years
∙ BMI 18-29 kg/m2
∙ Normal menstrual cycles ranging from 24-35 days in length
∙ No more than one previous IVF treatment cycle
∙ Both ovaries intact
∙ Normal Blood tests (E.g. Follicular phase serum FSH concentration (≤12iu/l), Serum AMH (>10pmol/L))

Please email [email protected] if you would like more information

Thank you
Professor Waljit Dhillo, Dr Geoff Trew, Dr Anna Carby

i really wish i could do it! i have irregular cycles though and also live in scotland so not sure how feasible an IVF cycle in london would be

just wanted to share in case people hadn't seen it :flower: i know a lot of people don't want to like things like that on facebook because it will come up on their page! :)

What a great opportunity and i would have gone for that if i wasn't turning 35 in 2 weeks :( typically always too late for things lol

that's so annoying, if only they had posted it a few months ago :(

i'm gutted i can't do it :brat: but really pleased that some LTTTC ladies will get free IVF :cloud9:

I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the OP for posting this.

I enquired and got a response back within an hour. Answered lots more questions and have secured an initial appointment on 8th March!!! If all those tests go OK, we can start next cycle.

Just unsure about AMH as never had that tested before but with FSH of 10, my AMH is likely to be low but worth a try....

Anyway, thanks OP

SK x

excellent news, I'm so happy for you! will you keep me updated? :)

So glad someone can get some use from this xx Good luck!! xx

Of course I will!!! It's the least I can do!

I've just seen a thread on another forum of ladies on the trial and so far out of 8 ladies that have done the trial (total numbers, not just ladies on the thread), 4 have got BFP's, sadly one MC, one is 16 wks now and 2 have their first scan this Friday.

2 more start in the next few weeks!!!

If the trial round doesn't result in a PG for you, they fund a completely normal cycle. For the time around trigger shot (which is the clinical trial bit) they cover travel costs & hotel if you need to travel (we do - Bristol - London)

This all seems too good to be true.

Thank you again OP, millions.

We have an appointment that day too, am hoping we won't need it and that the IUI has worked but have a feeling we'll be there.

Good luck at your appointment and hope you'll be starting the cycle after :)

it's an amazing opportunity and I'm so looking forward to seeing you getting your bfp :happydance:

tinkerbell, your IUI was on my birthday! which I'm sure will bring you extra luck :winkwink:

by the way, to update - after posting this I emailed them anyway and just explained that I have PCOS, I thought I would chance it  the guy was lovely and told me to get back in touch with him in a month or two to see where they're at because they will be doing the trial on women with PCOS next, since we will massively benefit from kisspeptin being used instead of ovitrelle because of the lower risk of over stimulation! so I'm hoping to benefit from this too, I'm willing to travel to london (from glasgow) for treatment but I've kinda put it to the back of my mind for the moment and if it doesn't happen then it obviously wasn't meant to be :D

I actually contemplated emailing and saying if your ever doing 'over 35' trials i'd like to be considered... can't hurt can it? lol x

you really should because you never know! :) if I hadn't emailed I wouldn't have found out about their next trial so go for it! :D and let me know what they say!

Oh wow Tinkerbell! In the nicest possible way, I hope I don't see you there!!! When's your OTD? What time is your appt next Friday?

Foquita - That's excellent news. I've found them really helpful so far and thats also what I'm hearing from the girls who have done the trial already.

I hope so ;) but if today's test is accurate then it hasn't worked.

Haha me too but have a feeling i'll be there. Tested today at 10dpiui and BFN  hoping it's just to early but not feeling hopeful. OTD is Sunday so still quite a few days of.
I think my appointments at 12.30, will have to double check though. I'm keeping everything crossed they'll accept me, it's our only chance at another IVF.

Nothing to lose!! I've emailed them... they can only say 'no' can't they and i've lost nothing x

OMG - They have emailed back and want more info from me!!

Tut tut Tinks for testing early :insertfingerwaggingsmileyhere:

I tested at 10dpo on my last IVF and got nothing but there was a line on day 12. Don't give up yet!

any news tinkerbell? :)

that's fantastic news xxxshellxxx!! :yipee: have you emailed back and had another reply?? :)

Yes i emailed back but they decided my BMI would likely be in range by the time it started (i'm just outside)... but by then i'd be too old! (they said it nicer than that lol). If my BMI was in range now i think they would have gone for it as i'd have still been 34 when i signed up... wasn't to be but worth a shot :flower:

I contacted them and was told I sound like I am suitable. Will call tomorrow to book appt to confirm I can go ahead. I dont mind travelling to London either, would do anything to get pregnant and have a healthy baby(s)...Thank you so much for posting:)
