I have been TTC for a year now. After about 9 months I went and saw a fertility specialist (I told him it had been a year) because I was getting impatient. Every test under the sun was done and came back fine, including semen analysis on my husband. My cycles are completely regular, and every month that I use an OPK i get a positive, so I know I am ovulating (not to mention my blood work and ultrasound backed that up).

So we have been cleared by insurance and the doctor to do IVF whenever we would like. I have been reading a lot of threads here about people TTC for years + and was just wondering why not try IVF? I am still debating myself if I want to do it or not, so I am looking for other people's insight on why they did or did not try IVF.

Have you looked into the one where they inject the sperm into you right next to the egg?? I can't remember what it is called atm. Just thought I would mention it... Not sure which would be the right one for you and your situation, just thought I would mention it. Hope some of the other ladies on here can help you out more.

I think it is called IUI? My doc doesn't seem to think that it works all that well, he said the chances of IUI working is about the same as just having sex each month. He thinks if something is going to be done mind as well do IVF.

I would probably wait for 3yrs before ivf.. as I m having time.. natural conception is always preferred.. even before IUI , IVF shouldnot be done.. its assisted conception.. lab procedure.. replica of natural one.. I will rather wait as i m still 30.. IVF option will be considered only after 35.. as i have no issues now.. baby making is miracle..
Its ur choice.. i will advice u to try SMEP first for 3 months then go to fertility specialist if it fails.. lots of babydust to you..

Yes, it is IUI when they inject the sperm into the uterus. I say move to IVF when you feel ready and comfortable for it. My DH was against it at first but after a year and 4 failed IUI's the desire for a baby is more than the disagreement with the IVF procedure. Got over that real quick! So for us it is now just waiting to save up for it as ours is all out of pocket.

Good luck to you with whatever you decide! :dust:

I think the cost might be the cause of a lot of people avoiding IVF. Plus is it a much more invasive procedure. I can say it definitely wouldn't have been my first choice with the cost, injections, and having to be knocked out for the egg collection. Unfortunately, it is really the only option for me and hubby right now since he has azoospermia. Before his diagnosis, I didn't even consider IVF as an option but now I'm looking forward to it to actually give us a chance to conceive. Good luck!

Yup that is the one I meant the IuI... like some of the other ladies here have said you have to do what is right for you and yours... Personally I would opt for the IuI as it is a bit more natural and less evasive... But that is me. I wish you all the best though!! :dust: for you all
