Jumperoo Bad?

there is a lot of research out ther about how crawling and tummy time are key to developing language skills. Traditional crawling in particular also is shown to help the communication between the right side and left side of the brain. I know some kids skip crawling, you can't force it, but there have even been studies on children who skipped crawling, had language issues, and with therapy that included having them crawl, it helped out the language issues.

It is not a hard and fast rule that if your child skips crawling it will cause language problems, but like all things, there are probably some who are more vulnerable to language issues and skipping crawling will be harder on them than on others.

My HV commented on how comfortable Willow looked all tucked up in the ergo..cue a 10 minute lesson from me on crotch danglers :haha:

ergo is one of the better carriers.. it doesn't dangle them straight from the crotch like a bjorn does. It distributes the weight evenly from knee to knee.

I think that's the point Kala's getting at. That a HV liked the Ergo yet most recommend Bjorns. I have an Ergo and my HV looked at me like I have 3 heads - still does but now she thinks it's mad to wear a baby at nearly one and I'll stop his development with walking :dohh: xx

whats the link between crawling and language skills?!

everything is bad when used wrong or excessively. As long as your lo isnt in it all day then they are fine

this pretty much.
people have been using bouncers/walkers etc for decades and how many people do you see walking round on their toes/broken necks lol

unfortunately I'm a tiptoe walker and so is my neice. I know my SIL left my neice in her walker quite alot. I'm not too sure if thats what happened to me lol

Its a little dense, but goes over the many things that crawling benefits. Again, not all kids are going to be noticably affected. Sometimes I think the brain will still wire itself, just the hard way if that makes sense.
