Just a little rant..... Alright Im SO MAD!

My baby is just a little over 3 weeks old.. last tuesday I went to the store to get her some formula and then I headed off to the lake for a while so I just took a few cans.. and left the rest at home in the box.. well in that past week she seemed to be getting sick all the time.. like not a little spit up.. but vomitting everything up after her feedings.. bad bad diahreah.. to the point it looked like water..she had very bad gas and was crying like she was in pain. when i got home me and my DH were talking about it as he was feeding her and he said why does this look like its all curdled? I went and looked on the box.. and it was OUTDATED!!!! to before she was even born!!.. I feel horrible because I should have looked at the dates.. but normally they have a shelf life of about 2 years!!! so I never even thought to look.. I took her to the hospital to get her checked over.. and aside from a little dehydration and upset stomach she would be fine.. but a week of her being sooo miserable all because of this just makes me SO mad.. what should I do?

I'd complain at the store you bought the formula from. No way should they be selling out of date stock, especially when it's baby milk!!

At the very least you should get a refund and some more milk.

thats shocking your poor bubba, but dont you feel bad, i never check either, because its not like they go out of date easy. I would contact trading standards about the store. Definitely.

That's awful! I wouldn't have checked either. Definitely complain about the store, that's inexcusable!

Thats unbelievable, I wouldn't have checked either so please don't feel bad about it. I would talk to the store about it and report it, they should not be selling something out of date especially baby milk. Please let us know the out come, take care XX

I feel a little better knowing that all of you wouldnt check either!!!!!.. and so far I have talked to the manager who gave me a new case of formula.. which would help.. but at this point i cant even feed her it!.. oh well when she is better then she can have it.. the expiry isnt until 2011! I made sure to check haha. and I was supposed to hear from the owner today, but apparently he didnt want to talk to me so the manager called me again to ask me for the drs that i went to see in the hospital and the name of my family doctor that I am going to see tomorrow.. he forwarded that info to the head office and i am supposed to hear from them either at some point today or tomorrow.. I will let you all know

that it horrible, i sometimes check the date but 90% of the time i dont and the ones i checked the date on are for 6+months because they where on offer wanted to make sure they would still be good for him...

Glad you got some free milk off them, its bad the head person would not call proberly to embarrassed

Ahhhh yes I have!! just today actually not to long ago!! the lady explained to me that the store would offer me gift certificates in good faith* so they called it.. and we will just have to come up with an amount!.. and if I didnt like that way of doing things then they would have to send an insurance adjuster out to my house to talk to me and my DH about the situation and then they would look into all the medical information at the hospital that they have for Callie. I Really dont want to turn it into a Huge big deal with laywers and stuff.. well I kinda do, but on the other hand, I am just glad that she is well. As well as I would have to prove that it was the actual formula that made her sick (Which I know for sure was the reason) but like they said. who is to say that it wasnt a flu bug. the doctors all agree with me that it was the formula but they couldnt REALLY prove it either if that makes sense..
So I think that I am just going to deal with the store to come up with an amount that they are willing to give me..
I would refuse to shop there again. and refuse the gift certificates but its the only store in our tiney town lol
