As the tile says really. I'm 13w 5 d pregnant, I got my registration certificate in dec. I am willing to childmind but only up to the end of July and then would want till the new year off really. Surely no-one will take me on when I'm only able to provide a short term commitment!

Oh is really nagging at me as money is tight so with #2 coming he's panicking. I am advertising but getting nothing at the moment.... Not sure what I can do!!!

Any advice .... Any childminders able to explain how maternity leve works when ur minding!!!???

The only option I could suggest, which means you carry on and not upset any parents by taking 9 months leave.. is to look at hiring an apprentice, where they'd be under your supervision, but you wouldn't need to be so hands on, if you get me.

One of the childminders I know, actually did this.. she had the baby and the apprentice kind of took lead whilst she was 'training' but was still fully supervised, etc.

Other than that, there's no point in really starting until after baby has been born and your ready to put everything into it, especially without upsetting a lot of parents and potentially damaging the small reputation you'd probably of built up.

Thanks, it is going to be tough money wise but I guess I'm best off waiting. Tbh I can timagine looking after anyone but dd at the moment... But then I'm still in the exhausted phase!!!

Hi,
Just a piece of tip, enjoy your pregnancy and do the childminding business afterwords once your baby is born and you recovered your health....

Yeah I think your right, best thing to do is leave it till afterwards, maybe seem if you can help out at a local nursery if they've got someone on leave or something!? xx gl xx

I would say that there may be someone out there looking for a single term's care or something, going from say now until the end of the school year? Try your local University/college/schools. We have recently had to try to find 10 weeks care (from January until Easter Holidays when I start maternity leave) for our son as his old CM couldn't offer the hours we needed and we've found someone who will take him for the hours (until 7pm) for just the 10 weeks. Maybe this would keep you current, and enable you to earn some money.

My old CM also offers a 'baby park' service, where people can leave their children on an ad-hoc basis for a flat fee for 3 hours (I think she charges £10). They don't sign a contract, but instead can use them on certain mornings/afternoons that she's quiet whenever she has availability.
