I was due in to work tonight but have been signed off again. Due to start at 8pm.

The minimum time they ask for you to call is an hour before you are due to start if you are not going to be in. Well, i call in 11 hours before hand (i have been off sick for 8 weeks now and so they know the problems I have been having) so i spoke to a team leader, i barely got 2 words out.

I said i had been signed off for another 2 weeks then this happened

'you arent due in tonight are you. (huge sighs) Oh, look, you should let us have more notice than that, we are so short staffed, in future call in and let us know sooner, i'll have to sort it. Cheers, bye'

AND HUNG UP ON ME

Spoke to my OH and said I think im going to go in and speak to my manager about being spoken to like that. He agree's.

Its totally not acceptable and to be hung up on!!!

What would you do? I already feel really bad that I've been off and now for her to be like that with me........ I dont want to go in and cause a load of trouble but I dont think she should get away with speaking to me or anyone in this manner.

Any advice?

I would go & speak to my Manager, it's not what you need at all & they should have more sympathy!!

Good luck

speak to your manager.
have you had a risk assessment done??
i had exactly the same thing happen to me, i did my own risk assessment but none of the management would sign it i was still doing 24hr shifts on my own with 4 vulnerable adults at 6months pregnant.
im having difficulties now its time to go back :(

Thanks ladies.

No, they havnt done a risk assessment - which they should have done well before now!

I am going to speak to my manager as I have been really peeved about it all day!

x

Grrr how nasty of them.I reckon 11 hours is more than adequate notice, they cant begrudge you being off especially as the Doctor has actually signed you off.Hope your manager is more sympathetic hun :hugs: x
