I was able to see them before the Dr actually called/discussed with me.

A whopping 21!.. According to the paper I saw it read normal levels are above 30?

I had been taking D3 1000mgs a day, along with my prenatal, but I stopped taking them for a week because I wanted my blood to be 'pure' for the test.

I read somewhere, can't remember where, that Vitamin D deficiency can lead to or be a cause of infertility? Maybe I'm just reading too far into it, but it definitely cannot hurt to add back in that D3 right? Lol.

I can't help but get my little hopes up thinking, maybe this is it! Maybe this is the reason we I have never had one single BFP. Ahhh, a girl can dream right?

Hello I have recently found out I have very low vitamin d levels, I found out because I went to the doctors because my knees and back were hurting so he ran a load of tests, vit d being one. I've done some research and vitamin d can cause infertility and miscarriages. So at the moment I'm in the same boat as you, I'm hoping that when I've taken the high dose age for 8 weeks it will put my levels back to were they should be and this is the final issue sorted. I will keep my fingers crossed this issue is the only thing stopped you getting your bfp and you get it soon.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you too hun! How much of a dosage did they put you on? I just started taking my 1000mg tablets again along w/ the 500 or so in my prenatal.

You may want to request a higher dose from the doctor. Mine was low and they gave me 50,000 IU pills to take 2x per week for 3 months to bring mine back up.

Waaaayyy more than you could ever or would ever want to take in OTC supplements.

I think my level was like 13 when I got mine checked. Haven't had them checked since but I just had some routine blood tests done, I probably should have asked about vitamin D!

You are probably right. :) I'm going to email her in a bit and ask her. Hopefully she can 'fix me up'. Did the higher dosage have any side effects for you?

I take 4000 iu of Vitamin D3 daily, plus another 800 in my prenatal. In November my level was 21ng/mL and by February it was up to 42ng/mL. Apparently between 30-100 is considered normal but 50-70 is ideal for TTC. It hasn't made any difference for me, but I have other issues that are bigger than a Vitamin D deficiency.

*My doctor prescribed me 1000 iu of Vitamin D4 daily but I made the choice to get it up faster by taking a higher dose. I felt completely safe doing this based on research that I did, but don't take my word, do your own research and/or ask your doc.

**Vitamin D4 was developed by pharmaceutical companies and is a synthetic form of Vitamin D and is by prescription only whereas Vitamin D3 is from naturally occurring sources and thus can be sold over the counter.

I read up quite a bit on it, and it seems like I am REALLY low, compared to some of the other 'healthy' numbers I saw. I sent my PCM an email and now just waiting to hear back from her. I'm really hoping she can prescribe a big enough dosage for me. I'm about 4'9'' / 100lbs.

I hope she doesn't just shrug it off. Lol.

I also have low Vitamin D and just started taking pills once a week to get mine in the normal range. I am hoping that maybe that was causing me to be infertile as we have been TTC for a year now.

You are probably right. :) I'm going to email her in a bit and ask her. Hopefully she can 'fix me up'. Did the higher dosage have any side effects for you?

Honestly, no. My doctor was surprised I didn't have more energy or anything, but I didnt feel any different. It has been a few years since then too, so I may be forgetting some small detail.

Okay ladies, my PCM emailed me this.

I also recently checked my Vit D levels. My Vitamin D results:

25 OH-VIT D (vit D2 + D3): 93 nmol/L
< 25 deficient
25-50 – insufficient
>200 – suggest reduce dose of Vit D

I guess I have good levels but I have been taking 4,000 IU daily on and off for a about a year. I have now reduced my dose to 10,000 IU once a week. I think it's best absorbed if Vit D is in oil capsule so I have ordered this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00514BJO6/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks for the info hun! I will definitely look into buying my own capsules, I checked out the brand and they are these.

Says it's only 600 IU. I'm already taking 1,000. Lol. I'm hoping they are different than the ones I posted.

LittleBunnie, I do not think 600 IU will make a lot of difference for you considering that you are taking 1,000 already and still showing lower levels. It's possible that they cannot prescribe higher dose because of some regulation but I know a lot of ladies are taking much higher doses. Vit D is super important and may as well be the only reason you cant conceive. Check success stories I have seen ladies getting pregnant once they fixed their Vit D deficiency. I am not sure how sunny it is in South Korea? if it's anything like the UK, I'd take 4,000 daily and maybe go down to 600 on a sunny day. best of luck!

Thanks so much! It's not really sunny here. It's mostly overcast. I've seen maybe 1-5 sunny days in the 7 months I've been here. Lol.

I stopped taking them a week before my blood test because I wanted my levels to be what they would normally be without the supplements.

I started the 1K of d3 again today though, I found 2K D3 at the PX here. I may get those until I can get the oil caps. :) I'm wondering if 4K would work for me or be too much. I should also mention that I am borderline lactose intolerant, so I don't drink much milk. Maybe a glass every 2 weeks or so.

I feel like I'm listening to myself back in Oct. I read about vitamin D level's possibly being a factor. I had mine checked and it was a 15! Doc said the minimum is 30 but really that 50 is the minimum it should be. Well it's been 6 months of 50,000 a week and I'm at a 36 but she wants me to a 50 so I have to take 10,000 a day for 3 more months then 2,000 a day after. DH just got his checked last month and it was a 10!!! Terrible! So he is on the same!

I'm not pregnant but I tried evening primose oil starting a couple days before ovulation and not only did my opk come out so strong positive, I had ewcm, and TMI but a lot of natural wetness which I never get. I'll let you know in a week and half if I get BFP (i've been ttc for 3 years) I believe that's what changed it because it's the only thing i've changed!

Oh, I am glad that EPO worked for you! I tried it for 3 cycles and it really didn't do anything for me. :( I am going to try and head up to the pharmacy on base Monday and pick up my script.

Do you drink a lot of water Bab?

So my husband picked up my prescription today. My PCM prescribed Ergocalciferol + OS-CAL.

One is 50,000 IU taken weekly, and the other is 400 IU taken daily.
:flower:

I am really hoping this is what I need!

This month I really notice a difference, and according to my Vitamin D levels I just recently went over the minimum so if I get pregnant soon that very well could have been the trick. I would think being so low in vita d it would effect egg equality I also believe I read about it effecting the baby to implant well. Either way I really hope you get your BFP soon! :D

LittleBunnie, 50,000 IU weekly sounds right. As far as I know ergocalciferol is vitamin D2. I am just wondering why they put you on higher dose of Vit D2 and lower dose of Vit D3? It would be interesting to know cos everyone seems to think it's Vit D3 that we need rather than D2 - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17023693 Did you ask about that by any chance?

Thanks hun! Fingers crossed you get your BFP! :hugs:

Briss, I'm not entirely sure love. I wasn't there when he picked up the meds but I can ask my PCM, I think I am due to see her in a week. :) Hopefully she can shed some light.
