Just how common is Aiden??

thanks braven05...i was afraid of that.

good question green lady, lol. i feel the same way -- LOVE emily and emma, olivia, but refuse to use them due to over-popularity these days. *sigh*

in the end, we will pick the name that we love most regardless......i think there are going to be "issues" with whatever you pick somehow, so oh well! we'll just keep using the names over the next few months and see what sticks for us.

Lol. I'm an Emily. I'll be 21 in March. Wasn't that popular til a couple years ago.. NOW I hate it. Every time I hear Emily I look around and I think they're talking to me, and their not..
Was nice when Emily was lowkey. :)

I know quite a few Aiden's -- probably bc i work with kids, teen moms, & my son's in preschool. So i'm around kids & baby names every day!

My son's name is Jayden, which i LOVE but 4 years ago when i picked it... i had no idea it was popular & "trendy" -- i actually foolishly thought i was picking a "unique" name :dohh:

There are only 20 kids in my son's preschool class, and one day his daily report read, "Jayden enjoyed playing cars with Braedyn & Caiden." Yes! Out of 20 kids, there is a Braedyn, Caiden, Jayden, & an Aiden in one class! And at one point there was even a little girl in the class, also named Jaedyn.

Regardless, i still love his name -- and would pick it again in a heartbeat!

Aiden is still far less common & less popular than names like: John, Michael, James, Christopher, Matthew, etc........ Because those names have been Top 10 for 100+ years........ Statistically speaking there are many more people (of all ages) around with those traditional names, iykwim

I only know one Aidan which is my brother. The spelling is different and everyone comments on how it is unusual and not common.

I've only ever heard of 1 Aidan and that's my cousins little boy! So its definitely not very common around here! :flower:

I have an Aiden :)

I was a little worried about it for the same reason, but in the whole pregnancy and 6 months so far I've only heard of one mum calling to her Aiden - and as another lady said, you are much more alert to it!

It's pretty common where I live. My sister also likes that name if she has a boy. And now I've been hearing it for a girl.

That's actually my biggest fear with going with Aidan, that it'll suddenly morph into a girl's name! :dohh: It's a traditional name over here but since it was almost unknown in the US people feel they can play with it more. I'm having doubts again. Sort of hoping for team pink to save myself this problem! :haha:

My 6.5 year old neice is named Aiden, my 10.5 year old neice is Logan. Aiden is a beautiful name for girls...but then I could be biased (just an aside, my family is weird, my neices are actualy named: Logan, Aiden, Austin and Avery--all are boys names).

I don't know. I absolutely love Aidan and the fact that it's popular doesn't really bother me. But that I'd always have to be correcting people on his spelling, that half the kids in his class might have some rhyming variant, and that he might even end up with a girlfriend who has the same name is a bit much. I'm probably over reacting! There's always the middle name, at least. :dohh:

lol green lady i'm with you :)

thanks for all your input ladies!! i love the name but i'm just having serious doubts. we are thinking more and more of going with our other choice of nate/nathan.
