Hi

This has just dawned on me and now as i like to worry i am concerned that i am not being told everything. When i booked my HSG they surprisingly threw in "oh you have been refered for an untrasound too" I was like oh noone told me that and the receptionist was like "oh? well dont worry its ususally something they do as you are coming for your HSG may as well do that too" I didnt think much of it but then thought why would they do that when i have been having internal unltrasound for follicle tracking would they have not seen everything then? So anyway they did hte external ultrasound then she said i will just check your kidneys too, i was like oh why she said arh we may as well. Again i put it aside and just let her get on with it.

Did anyone else have kidneys checked with ultra sound? Do you know if this is normal preocedure to have with both HSG and if you are having an untrasound?

I just googled and saw that if you have an ovarian cyst which i have they can check your kidneys to see if they are ok too????

Am i being silly and worrying about nothing??? Or could they be looking for something specific or checking something out that they do not want to speculate on yet? She said everything was fine but i cant help but wonder why they do it???

i don't know ...when i scheduled my HSG we did and schedule a ultrasound as well ( vaginal and abdominal ) on the same time for week a later ...just in case something will show up at the HSG test so i will not have to wait to confirm if something did show up...well of course with my luck i did have something abnormal on my hsg test but lucky the ultrasound was already book so did not have to wait to find out what was the circle they could see on the x ray ...i went in for my ultrasound a week later like sheduled and find out it was a polyp ....

but i never heard about kidney...sorry...

Its really odd? I wanna know if she thought she saw something or whether she was asked to check something or wether its just normal since they are doing an unltra sound? I woulda thought they had to tell me if they spotted anything sinister but to be honest it was one of those times where i asked questions and got little response again? :( Anyone else?

The same thing happened to me last cycle! I was getting a scan for follie tracking and she said she wanted to check my kidneys...I had no idea why, didn't even ask and the Dr didn't mention anything when giving me my results.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Sorry to jump into your thread and section but just thought I'd share an experience I had a few years ago.
I had a large ovarian cyst and a scheduled ultrasound to measure it but then they did have a look round the rest of my abdomen including kidneys. The tech said she might as well seeing as I was there and they were quite quiet. I got the impression it was more for curiosity/interests sake rather than any particular concerns.

well i think its better they check it out than not....i reallly dont want to scare anyone and i wonder if anyone has heard something similar or knows the reason....but i know a lady who had clomid and hyperstimulated.....she didnt make it. I was in shock....y y y? apparently she had 'lesions on her kidneys' i think it means she had a weak kidney and it went into failure.......cos i'm sat here thinking loads of peeps hyperstimulte and theyr fine?

Thanks for your advice / input guys
When i asked she did say we do it as part of normal procedure just as we are scanning but i am a bit mistrusting and alsways think of the "liability" excuses like they dont want to say something which could get them into trouble in the future so would rather just say nothing or little. I am sure it was just a "part of procedure" issue but you still cant help being curious i suppose :)

Thanks again! x
