Kinda need to vent... TTC 4 years 37 never preg

Hi ladies,

New to this forum. Kinda never left a post about TTC anywhere but I feel the need to share/vent.. what have you.

I thought I could be pregnant this month but just got my period today. Kinda bummed because it's been 4 years of TTC already and nothing yet. Also have been working on healing from Endometriosis, Hashimotos Thyroiditis and PCOS. I don't know if anyone has any words of encouragement but if you do, I'd love to hear. I'm not usually down about TTC but today I am. I was hoping for twins. :)

Anywho, thanks for listening.

Hey. I finally got my BFP after 10 years of trying, hubby had a serious accident 8 years ago so don't be disheartened by how long it took us. I'm also 37 and have PCOS and endometriosis.

We went down the IVF route in the end. Is this an option for you? I was ready to give up but so glad we didn't.

Awww.. thanks for the encouragement Bekah78.

10 years, wow. That's amazing! Congrats!

We are considering IVF and IUI. I'm just not into medications, I'm an all natural person so that's something I need to figure out for myself. But yes, it is an option that we may try.

Thanks for writing to me, I do feel better now. :)

Good luck with which ever route you choose. I hope you get your BFP soon!

Hi teacup. Sorry to hear you're feeling down. Ttc is an emotional roller coaster for sure. I'm with you on going down the natural route, i would highly recommend acupuncture to help nature along. I also have a zita west book (fertility and conception) and follow the diet recommendations in there. I do think these things helped when I conceived my son. We only tried a year though.

I would also say it's worth seeing a dr to perhaps get some testing done. You don't necessarily have to take any meds, go down ivf route or anything but it might just help to know if there are any issues and then consider whether to tackle them medically or naturally

Hi broodymrs,

Thanks for the advise and the zita west book recommendation. I'll check it out. I've done some acupuncture but not a whole lot. I may look into that again. I am on a very strict diet, gluten free, dairy free and see a nutritionist every 3 months. Did a cleanse to get rid of toxins and candida. Live a chemical free lifestyle. Saw a fertility doc and got all the tests, myself and hubby are fine.

Honestly, I think stress is doing it. Been supporting my husband for 2 years with my home based biz. Now my biz is in a transition and we had to tap into savings. So $$ is crazy. I only started talking about this to family and friends this past month and I think it's healthy to get it out. Anywho, I'm rambling.

Thanks so much for listening, it does help to get it out.

:)

Stress will definitely do it! If you're both fine then it will happen eventually. Good luck hun

teacup- Thanks for posting. I have the same thoughts as you about medical interventions for fertility. We've been trying for 8 months, have had one miscarriage. We are planning to go to a specialist in a few months just for testing if nothing happens, I don't think we'll do any intervention, especially if they don't find anything specific.
I'll be 37 soon and have hashimosto's, have also been doing the gluten free diet for a few years. Sounds like you are very knowledgeable about lifestyle changes for fertility but if you haven't checked it out, you might be interested in the book "Making Babies" written by an acupuncturist and a reproductive endocrinologist who is very conservative on medications. Some of the recommendations in the book are what I think helped my temp charting start to look normal and get pregnant.

I wish you luck on your journey and hope for a BFP for you soon.

Hi teaandme,

Thanks for taking the time to write to me. :)

Funny, I was just looking up preconception visits with a midwife and they also do a 3 month fertility approach, similar to what it seems the "Making Babies" book is about. I'll have to look into this. Thanks so much for the recommendation!

Hi teacup

I hope I'm not stating the obvious but thyroid disease and pcos can stop ovulation. Do you do temperature charting to see if you actually are ovulating each month?

I know you want to be chemical free so you could try soy isoflavins, a natural supplement that is said to work a bit like Clomid.

For what its worth I started TTC at age 37 with no known problems and it still took me 3 years to conceive. It might just be that you will have to weigh up being chemical free and struggling to conceive with taking chemicals so you can get pregnant. A lot of women with pcos have success with Clomid.

Good luck with whatever you decide :hugs:

I have PCOS too but no endo or thyroid issues, the only thing that made it happen for me in the past was a low carb diet. everything we tried failed until I cut sugar from my diet. I recommend reading the book it starts with the egg and take coq10 and folate for egg quality.
