Hello ladies!

I've decided to write a journal here in order to try and motivate myself to lose weight and also to record my experiences.

I'm not really interested in things like the Atkin's Diet or the Cambridge Diet because I want to change my lifestyle permanently and I want to keep up whatever I change so that I can maintain my goal weight once I get there. To do this, i've decided that i'm going to try and lose weight and get healthier in two different ways:

1.) More regular exercise

I already go to the Gym once a week (for an hour) and I go lane swimming once a fortnight (for 1 hour) but i'd like to make this a little more intensive. My plan is to go to the Gym twice a week (for an hour and a half) and to continue going lane swimming once a fortnight (for an hour).

2.) Changing my diet

I'm certainly not perfect with what I eat already, but I don't think i'm too far away. I don't tend to snack very often at all and I don't eat much in the way of chocolate, sweets, crisps, cake etc. But, I cook a lot of processed foods for dinner and I have take out usually about once a week. From now on i'm going to try and cook from scratch more often - casserole, stews, rice, pasta, bolagnaise (sp?) etc and i'm going to try and reduce my portion sizes. I'm also going to cut down the number of take outs that we have.

Starting Point

I'm not very comfortable telling people my weight at the moment so i'm going to tell you that I want to lose:

70lbs

To help me do this i'm going to set mini-targets for myself, which i'll do once this gets underway. I'll be weighing myself every Sunday to see how much i've managed to lose and will post the results here :)

hun, just a comment which may help
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it says to 'break the fast' overnight and kick start your metabolism for the day.
An apple is not enough! Try bran based cereal, whole meal toast etc
It will stop you from getting as hungry at lunchtime too and can help snacking

good luck and keep up the journal

Thanks Rachael, I usually do have something a bit more substantial but i've been up at six and out the door by half past for the last couple of days and if I eat so early I tend to just be sick :(

that's an early start hun!!! I don't think I could eat that early either

At the moment i'm having to get up so early to get to university on time because until my car is fixed i'm having to catch the bus to the tram station and the times don't line up very well so i'm having to get an early bus to get there then wait 30 mins for tram.

AHHHHH!!! I HATE MY OH!!!

He's really unsupportive with my plan to lose weight, and tempts me into eating foods I shouldn't. Like now, he bought me a chocolates even though he knows i'm trying to lose weight.

aw hun dw about the choc. everyone has little slip ups. grr to oh though! good luck on the weight loss x

I just wanted to say good luck! :)

I'm really hoping that i can lose weight after i've given birth. I lost almost 3 stone several months before i fell pregnant and now i'm gradually putting it all back on! :(
Just thought i'd mention that special K cereal is brilliant for dieting, i used to eat that every morning without fail and then a Special K bar at lunch or something.
I honestly believe that really helped me!

Take care & i'll be reading when i can! :D xxx

Well, I finally got a chance to weigh myself today and i've put on a massive 7lb this week according to the scales I found (in the public toilets on the seafront! Lol)

Hopefully better luck when I get home :(

22nd September 2009

Well I really need to start being more regular with my diary! Started off so well with posting my daily food... then got rubbish at it lol  Weighed myself today, just to see how i'm doing after being back from holiday and i'm back to my pre-holiday weight + 1.5lbs so either the scales were out on holiday OR the stress of packing + living off rice (so I don't need to do freezer shops) has made me lose 5.5lbs in like 4/5 days lol.

Good job so far!!! Just a thought, if you can cut out your soda intake (or two cans a day), you could lose almost 2.5 pounds a month!!! Try fizzy water or crystal light in your water. This one little step could be a big weight loss come one years time (28.8 pounds to be exact) :happydance: Good luck!! I am rooting for you

Thanks for the tip hun :D Funnily enough, before I moved in with my OH I never used to drink fizzy pop. I always used to drink flavoured water, fruit juice or good old tap water lol but he's always drinking pop especially Dr Pepper/Pepsi so i've sort of just picked it up.

Will give it a try :D
