*Knock knock* can I come in??

hi ladies

well you were pretty much right about the response from CMW- I didnt bombard her with questions I promise! I just told her the news about it being twins and asked her opinion about when its realistic to start mat. leave and she was generally vague and said ' well you know see how it goes'.

anyhow I presented my boss with the somewhat ambitious provisional plan of leaving at 32 weeks and he laughed and said ' yeah... we'll see' but signed it off anyway.

good to know i'm not the only one dealing with space issues with my Vauxhall corsa and 2 bed flat!!!

Interesting to hear some of you ladies are going to be induced- kind of assumed (?secretly hoped) it would be a straightforward case of elective c section for twinnies- stupid question i'm sure but how can you have two heads engaged in your pelvis? couldnt twin 2 be doing somersaults while he is waiting his turn? Think my personal idea of hell would be to go through all the effort of pushing number one out not to be able to finish the job and end up having emergency c section aswell!!! Maybe thats not how it works tho? have an appointment with consultant at 20 weeks so lots of time to think about how it works and what I want...

Cant believe the impact finding out its twins has made on me! its just like a little bit of magic has been added to the pregnancy! Its lovely telling everyone and hearing their sense of shock and delight for us! Only had one slightly iffy response from a colleague who emailed me to say congrats but ' no offence but I wouldnt want twins'...anyway by the end of the day she was at my door asking for conception tips!!! anyway it didnt dampen my spirits one bit!:happydance:

Hey hun, I thought the same as you - that I'd have a c-section - but my consultant has assured me that as long as the pregnancy goes smoothly and twin one is head down, then theres no reason why I cant give birth naturally. She said it doesnt matter if twin 2 is breech, she can deliver him like that! Aparently twin 2 can start turning and changing position after twin 1 is out, so I dont know what will happen if he decides to turn transerve! C- section i guess

I think with twins its a case of just waiting and seeing what happens, so not really making concrete plans. Glad to hear most people's reactions have been good for you - it certainly is a magical thing. xx

Hi & welcome LouLou!

I was exactly the same as you when I found out we were expecting twins - had so many sleepless nights with questions buzzing round my head (thank goodness for Google & the iPhone!). To be completely honest, I still don't think the shock has worn off - I feel I'll jinx myself if I actually start to believe I'm having two babies!

I also automatically assumed I'd have an elective c-section but when I discussed it with my obgyn he was completely against it and advised to go for a vaginal birth as Twin A is head down. I asked what would happen if Twin B decided not to co-operate and he said that he'd be able to reach up to pull him out if that happened (I kid you not!)...

A twin pregnancy is definitely a double blessing, but it certainly does bring double the worry!!!
