Monday 3rd March at approx. 12:15 am I was asleep in bed when I was woke up with mild contractions lasting approx. 20-30 seconds ever 12 minutes or so. The contractions weren't excessively painful but made it too uncomfortable to sleep through them so I found myself awake most of the night nodding off occasionally between contractions. Monday morning when i woke I had a bloody show which continued all Monday day.Monday day I continued with the same contractions so I carried on with my day as normal and tried my best to ignore them when I could. Monday afternoon I went for a walk and my contractions were then lasting between 40-60 seconds every 8 minutes although they were still not painful enough. I tried to sleep yet couldn't as was too painful to sleep. so I went downstairs as not to disturb my oh, they were building in intensity but still not long enough. my waters broke with a pop and asmall gush at around 12:30am tue 4th march. I woke my oh and had a quick shower and phoned the labour ward at 1am my contractions had got quite painful and were every 5 mins lasting 50-70 seconds each. The midwife advised me to go into hospital to be checked me and my oh arrived at 1:40 am and walked through our hospital to the delivery suite. This took 20minutes as quite a distance and my contractions were coming thick and fast and I had to stop with each contraction. I got to the delivery suite and I asked for gas and air when I was told they would have to examine me etc first. the midwife caring for me came in approx. 15 mins later who again I asked for gas and air tobe told they needed to establish how far along in labour I was. She strapped the monitor to my stomach to check baby and checked my pad that I had been wearing. The mw said thet it didn't look like my waters had gone but she could see some blood so could see id had a show she suggested we wait 30 minutes then she would examine me to see if she could see my waters etc (all the time iwas asking for g&a). I felt the need to poo so told the mw this she opened my legs and could see the babies head. Gave me gas and air with a few pushes later at 2.34am baby Lacey was born 8lb 40z. after some skin to skin daddy cut the cord and was handed to me to start feeding. I had an overall good experience although do wish id had gas and air earlier I was in the hospital a totl 40 minutes to delivery.
