I hit 16 weeks tomorrow and have actually lost 10 PDs from the morning sickness and only gained 2 back so far. Is this normal? I know my baby is ok had a scan last week and my little girl is great but feel like it's weird. I barely look pregnant and at 4 months it's sad. Considering half my diet was pizza for awhile I would think I would gain something.

I was the same way. I lost 9 lbs due to morning sickness. It took me a while to gain back that and now I've only gained 4 lbs from prepregnancy weight and I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow. My doctor wasn't too concerned but I do have a decent sized bump. I consider myself lucky! A lot of women gain so much weight during pregnancy and then have trouble getting it off after birth.

FWIW, I have lost over 20 lb, >10% of my body weight with HG. Baby is doing just fine. I was really worried too, but a very nice ER doc assured me. He put a mirror in front of my face and said "Andrea, look at your face and you teeth....that baby is getting EVERYTHING it needs from you. She's fine, it is just you who are suffering."

My experience with other ladies with HG is that loss of weight does not much affect the baby.

I'm sure you're fine and so is your baby. :) Your doctor would likely be concerned if you were underweight to begin with. In that case, 10 lbs. could be drastic. If you were a healthy starting weight, your body will eventually catch up. That's what my doc told me anyway.

I'm coming up to 16 weeks and still haven't gained a pound. But I'm eating when I'm hungry and keeping my body fueled with healthy things, so that's what matters. My doc was a little worried at first but thinks the weight gain will start in a couple weeks for me. Some women just gain later or show later based on build and metabolism, and you're really playing catch up in your case from losing so much. If you're really worried and/or your doc is concerned, maybe try adding additional calories? I know it's hard to eat a lot, but things like smoothies can help. Until my doc demands that I eat way more, I'm not going to stress too much because baby's been perfectly healthy and on target in all the ultrasounds.

You're fine! I hadn't gained any weight by 16 weeks either. I gained my first 5 pounds this past month and now I'm worried that I've gained too much too quick lol But you are totally normal. Even with losing weight due to morning sickness. I think I lost about 20 pounds.

It's all based on your body and your metabolism. Keep doing what you're doing.

You'll be totally fine!! :) I'm not brave enough to step on the scales just yet as in sure I've gained a ton of weight :haha: when I was pregnant with my daughter I didn't look pregnant at 16 weeks either I was really tiny with her, but this time I'm huge :haha:

Try not to worry, as long as your baby is ok that's all that matters :)

I lost 8lbs in first tri. It pretty much took me all of 2nd tri to gain those 8lbs back. So at 26weeks, I weigh the same that I did when I found out I was pregnant at 7 weeks.

It's normal to lose weight, especially due to morning sickness. As long as your doctor isn't worried about it, you shouldn't be. Just try to eat healthy, and follow any directions by doctor.

Losing weight in first tri is common...so don't worry.

also, I didn't gain a single ounce for the first half of my pregnancy...but then the growth spurts really hit and now I'm up 24 lbs by 34 weeks...dont stress about it ...the weight will come :) lol
