Congratulations!!

I waited until I was about 8 weeks or so before I made an appt with my midwife.... Before then, I just put a urine sample into the docs for confirmation.

xx

Congrats! I also got my BFP on cycle one if chlomid.

I would make an appointment with your gp. They prob won't do much other than chat to you and either refer you to midwife or give you the number to refer yourself. I think it depends where you are. Midwives where I am won't let you refer yourself or get referred until at least six weeks. X

First of all congratulations! I wish you a Happy and healthy 9 months ahead. When I found out it was a Saturday so I phoned on the Monday for an appointment at the docs as I have a few medical problems that need close monitoring. Each GP practice has a different procedure so give them a call on Monday and ask what they suggest.

Xx

Congratulations:)

I think it depends on your GP's policy. My doctor doesn't really see anyone till their 8 weeks and they no longer take urine samples - apparently shop bought ones are just as accurate!

I phoned to make an appointment and was given the option of seeing my gp or making a direct referral to the midwife unit at my local hospital. As this is my 2nd baby I referred myself to the midwives.

I'd phone your gp on Monday and find out what they recommend.

Thank you so much Ladies, I think I'm in shock. Would you request to speak to GP or just tell receptionist? xx

Congrats :) Love hearing everyone on here getting bfps :) Think the other ladies have answered your question though! Wishing you a healthy 9months!!

I rang and told the receptionist, she booked an appointment with the Dr to put it on the system. Midwife wouldn't see me till 8 weeks though!

Lovely, this is all what I expected, but couldn't clarify with anyone without people guessing :haha: Thank you ladies xxx

Hey, Im from UK and i called as soon as i found out i was preg (3 weeks ago)
And i just told the receptionist that i just got a pos preg test and she asked when my last period was then she figured out when to give me an appointment :) So she booked me in for when i will be around 7 weeks, my appointment is on monday i'll be 6 weeks +4.
Good luck and congratulations I hope this helps x x x

Congratulations! Ask receptionist - I figured they'd just book me in with midwife for 8-10 weeks but she actually said I had to bring a urine sample and see a go first!

Last time I did that the gp was puzzled as I'd done a hpt but randomly this time they did indeed test and confirm, go thru my dates / what to eat etc and refer me to midwife ago will call me in the next couple of weeks to book in I expect x

Hi everyone, i am also from the UK and just got my :bfp: yesterday (confirmed today)

Its nice that there are a few of us from the UK as its helpful to hear what to expect from health providers regarding pregnancy.

i shall ring my GP Monday although will only be 13dpo by then, i dont think i will show up on a 10miu test yet, does this matter for a blood test? :)

Have you tried a 10 miu? Mine showed yesterday too and I was 10dpo.

Congratuulations! We must be due around the same time :)

i think i might have tried a 10miu today, i realise i had them mixed up with my 20mius, just the IC types. i hardly got a line today so presume that was a 10miu

aww yes we are pretty much at the same point then :) im 12dpo today :) FF is saying im due 9th Oct according to my O day :)

i just tried to click your chart link in your sig but it doesnt work?

I called my doctors and they advised to just call the midwife and gave me their number. They said I can see the doctor if I wanted to, to talk anything through, but I didn't feel like I really needed to.

I'm 5 weeks pregnant today and have my early visit with the midwife on 24th February (nearly 9 weeks) and then my booking appointment on 12th March (11 weeks 1 day).

xx

are the midwifery services all hospital based or do they also have clinics? Im trying to use the NHS Choices pages to find out but seems it directs you to your nearest hospital for maternity services. Is that right?

Alandsa, I'm 11 dpo today, I reckon EDD is 7 Oct, but I don't have a cycle length to put into all these calculators so I could be wrong

We should make / join a thread for early october due dates x

Mrs B, I'm the same as you. I haven't had a consistent cycle length but test said I'm
2-3 weeks gone and I think I ov'd just under 3 weeks ago. Last period was 15th december so really worried they are going to give me an early edd when I think I'm due beginning of October!

Mrs B well FF guessed my due date based on ovulation so maybe your date would be 10th Oct seeing as you are a day after me?

yeah i wonder if there is a group already for October babies? i shall have a look

Im not sure they do the blood tests in UK i think thats more of a USA thing they would just give you an appointment when you would roughly be around 7-8 weeks because then you would have missed 2 periods and would definatley be pregnant.
With my 1st they didn't even get me to take a pregnancy test i just told them i had a pos HPT and since i had missed 2 periods then they didn't need to test really :)

I think it depends where you live as to whether you have to go to hospital for midwife appointments, when i lived in bournemouth i had a midwife at my Dr's x x x
