I had my lap and dye yesterday. I thought I was fine when I came round but I can barely move because of the gas. It's trapped in my chest and side. Every time I cough it hurts so much. I can't sit down with out feeling like I'm being stabbed and my shoulders are also sore. Has anyone experienced this and can tell me how long I will feel like this? Any tips for getting rid of it?
I thought it would be a walk in the park but I was so wrong!!

Hi I had a lap and dye done on Friday. Was told my tubes are blocked :( I'm still in pain now, belly very sore. For the first 3 days I could hardly walk and had awful shoulder pain which had me in tears. I've not had the shoulder pain for past two days do hopefully for you it will only last a couple of days. Hope you are feeling better soon xxx

Thanks becktoria. Ive been in tears a lot. The pain is unbearable some times. Drinking lots of pepper mint tea. Sorry to hear your tubes are blocked. Mine where fine but they found old endo and part of my large bowl fused together which they couldn't do anything about.
I hope this gas pain goes soon it's horrendous !!!
Hope your ok x x

The gas pain should subside within 48 hours. Try to walk around to help release the gas to expedite the pain. It's the worst part of a laparoscopy! Sleep it off and take pain meds if you have them. It will pass in a couple days.
I had bilateral blocked tubes as well. Did your surgeon unblock them during surgery? There are options to still conceive. Don't worry. Best of luck!

I had lap & dye in Feb and despite being warned about the shoulder pain was shocked at how bad it was.

Like you I felt fine when came around and only issue was bending down as belly to tender. It wasn't until the next day the shoulder pain kicked in.

For me it lasted 7-9 days. Had lap on the Tuesday and made the mistake of thinking I was fine Thursday and went to walk to the shops 10 mins away, got half way there before accepting I had to give up and just go back home. Finally made it to the shops on the Saturday but collapsed in pain as soon as I got back in the front door!

For me moving about a little bit though did seem to help disperse the gas, just don't over do it!

Fingers crossed you have a speedy recovery and have been given good painkillers.

the gas pain is the worst, hope it has eased a bit for you today :hugs:
i took colpermin capsules, which are peppermint oil pills, it helped and it eased in the next day or so.
hope you make a quick recovery, i ended up being off work for 2 weeks. xx

It s getting there. Still got wind pain in shoulders and in tummy but it's getting better. I'm back at work on Monday and I'm hoping I'm better by then. :(
