I was scheduled for my Lap and Dye next Tuesday but got a call on Tuesday saying they needed to either cancel or do it tomorrow so I'm in! I'm a bit scared to be honest as I've never had a general anaesthetic. To those who have had one, how long did it take to recover. Clinic told me 3 days off at least then the pre op appointment told me at least a week. Have got cover at work for the week but will I need that or maybe more?

Any advice please?

Thank you

Hi,

I had a Lap & Dye done on November 5th, I was nervous also but unlike your self I have had general anaesthetic before. I found the procedure very straight forward, and suffered with a very mild period type pain for 24 hours post the op...for a further 3 days I felt quite sore and uncomfortable but it wasn't unbearable....I'd certainly go through it again if I had to. I also had pain in my right shoulder directly after the surgery, apparently this is due to the gas they use to separate the internal organs...amazing isn't it!

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask...Good luck for tomorrow...I'll be thinking of you :)

good luck tomorrow ! and keep us update how you feel:)

Good luck for tomorrow! I had a lap and dye 3 years ago and there's honestly nothing to worry about - apart from feeling a bit groggy for a few hours after I woke up from the anaesthetic, I felt almost fine by the next day (a bit uncomfortable where they'd cut me open but the 2 scars are so tiny you can hardly even see them any more). As yearning said, it's not uncommon to have a bit of pain from the gas that's pumped in to separate things out so they can see though - like bubbles stuck around your shoulders!

Hope it all goes well for you  x

Don't feel bad for taking a week off! You don't know how much discomfort you'll be in afterwards and you are advised to rest for a few days even if you feel fine. Hope it all goes well :hugs: x
