I Know it won't help me but ever since getting the date for my lap & dye through (26th Jan) i am worrying myself silly, i've never had an operation or been under general anaesthetic (sp??) and i'm so stressed over it.
I have a slight phobia of clinical places and a major fear of needles......i was dearly hoping that my first real hospital stuff would be baby (ie pregnant) related, but its not and that hurts a little....

....I know i'm hideously over reacting but i'm worried about having it done and also worried about what they might find...........

Aw hun its natural to worry, and especially if you have never been under anaesthetic!

You have just got to think that it will be worth it in the end, if theres nothing wrong at least you have been checked, and if they find something then they can fix it!
easier said than done i no hun but you will be fine
xx

Thanks honey! Its hard and deep down i know it'll be worth it.....i'm just worried i guess part of it is the un known of the anaesthetic etc etc......
Just sometimes wish it would all go away!!!!

 You're not overreacting at all - it's so normal to be worried, but it really isn't anywhere near as bad as you might imagine. I was so nervous when I had mine too, but apart from 2 tiny scars that you can't even see now, and a bit of strange pain in my shoulders from trapped air bubbles it was absolutely fine. I've had quite a few general anaesthetics (6 or 7 I think) too and they're not as scary as they seem either. You're fast asleep before you know it (usually while still trying to slur out words to the anaesthetist!) and you'll just wake up feeling a bit dazed!

Hope it goes really well for you - I'll be thinking of you  x

Thanks hun - means alot. I'm such a chicken!!!!

No you're not! Everyone feels exactly the same! And I didn't mean to make the shoulder air sound scary btw - it's not painful, just strange! :hugs: x

Its not as bad as it sounds - i had mine in may and i'd have it all over again if i thought it might help me get a BFP

Good luck you'll be fine xxx

 I have a major fear of needles too...and this is honestly the worst it will be. Once the needle is in, you won't remember the rest. Try not to let yourself think about it too much before the day (or at least a couple days before) or you really will be very stressed by the time it arrives.

aww hun, :hugs:
I'm hoping for a good year for all of us xxx

Just a quick recommendation - mints can help with getting rid of the gas and therefore ease the pain in your shoulders! My mum gave me this hint before I had my lap and dye and I can guarantee it works

hi im new to this forum but just wanted to say i had a lap and dye yesterday and was feeling just like u. I had never had an op or anasthetic before and was sooo scared yesterday ( was in tears :hissy: lol ) but it was fine , u r asleep before u know it! my tummy aches abit today and have pains around my ribs and shoulders ( from the trapped air ) but it eases when i change position, honestly its not half as bad as i was imagining. The worst bit now is waiting for the results.

Good luck for yours have fingers crossed for you, am sure u will be fine xx

ps. carebear thanx for the tip about the mints and gonna try that now lol

Hi there, I had a lap n dye about a month ago. I was quite apprehensive mainly about the anaesthetic but I kept really calm and obviously everything was ok. The operation took about half an hour and my tubes were ok and they found no endometriosis. I was quite groggy afterwards and was sick from the anaesthetic(none of the other 3 girls that had it on the same day were sick though) and found it a little difficult to walk afterwards. The pain in the shoulders went after a few days and now about 3-4 weeks later my stitches are invisible and I'm back at the gym!(obviouslyI'm taking it easy and not doing sit ups etc.

My advice to you would be to try and relax as much as possible and you will be fine, try to follow all the advice the hospital/ nurse gives you and rest as much as possible and take it easy until you feel ready to go back to work etc.
X

Aww poor you....I think I would be exactly the same! I really hope all this is worth it for you...but remember they do it all the time so the dr's and nurses will be very experienced....just keep telling them that you are abit nervous, especially the anaesthetist and they will hopefully help you feel abit more relaxed.

You girls are all great!!! I've written on my pre admission notes and forms that i am nervous etc and never had an anaesthetic before. I'll also tell them when i go in to have it done.
Hopefully they'll understand. FX!!!!

I've some new books and dvd's to keep me entertained whilst i get over the initial shock!!!!

Good luck with it, it is a positive thing you are having done as it is a step closer to knowing the whole picture. I totally understand your nerves, but I am sure the thought of it is far worse than the reality. My experience of generals have been fine, the staff are always kind and try there best to relax you. Just tell them howe you feel and they will be extra nice. Let us know how you got on x

I have not had mine yet, am on waititng list and hoping to have it in the next couple of months. I just want to know now if there is anything wrong. I am also going to have estrogen in the next couple of months to increase my CM so they can do the post-coitel. Once those two things are done i will know what my options are!
