Hey Ladies

I had my lap pre-op yesterday at the hospital. Just wondering if I can get some ideas from ladies that have experienced a lap already, the nurse was mentioning I would be bleeding after surgery, do you bleed alot? how long did you bleed for? Also, the hospital I'm having my surgery at once you check into the surgical clinic, you will get changed and then they will usher you off to another unit, where DH is not allowed to wait with me, I will have to be alone.....this is making me the most nervous. I will be a basket case sitting their waiting by myself without DH

I was in control before the pre-op and I felt like I could do this and I'm ready for this and ready for some answers now I'm just scared out of my wits! :sad2:

Need a little reassurance ladies!! I need some helpful stories...I'm afraid I'm gonna stand while waiting for my name to be called to go to the surgery room and my knees will buckle with fear! :dohh:

Hi
I had my lap in march as I had a hsg test that confirmed blocked tubes. I to was scared witless, never been In hospital before, I went in at around 11 am saw a nurse who did a urine sample to make sure I wasn't pregnant( ironic or what) I wax then told to get changed into lovely paper knickers gown and stockings. A little later my consultant came to see me, age discussed what would happen and also said she would ring my dh when I was in recovery which she did. I then saw the anithnatist. At approx 1 pm they said my dh had to leave, literally 5 mins later I wax taken to the waiting area wich was strange, me and 2 other ladies all in our gowns like nervous wrecks lol. I then went into the part that said theatre and was asked to hop on the bed, I was then given a Canular in my hand and medicine to stop me being sick, he then chatted as he sent me to sleep..... I knew no more till I woke in recovery with a very itchy nose!!! A side effect from anastetic. I can not stress enough how fantastic all the staff where, there was really nothing to worry about. I had an overnight stay which was the worst thing as I hate hospitals, I had 4 insisions and ur took 3 hours as my tubes were quite bad, adhesions also to bowel and uterus. Once home it took me a good 10 days to feel normal again, I was very swollen with the gas they put in and also sore with the stitches in my belly button. On the brighter side I got my first bfp 2 months later!! Sadly mc at ) weeks x

Hi, I had my lap/hysteroscopy in July...hospital also didn't allow DH to be present. Sooooo he dropped me off...I made sure to bring a really great brand new magazine to read and occupy my time while I waited to be brought into OR. I recommend buying 2 really interstesing mag's that you really want to read. It helped to really keep me calm and relaxed. By the time I was ready to go in...I had read all the interesting articles, was calm and totally ok!

The bleeding after-wards was like a small period...the pain in the shoulder/neck was bothersome (its from the gas they use to inflate your tummy while you sleep)...hot water bottles worked wonders for that at home. Also...make sure you are getting up frequently in the first few days, even if its to get food and drinks...helps to move the gas out of your system.

In total, I needed a week (7 days) to recover before I was able to go back to work...I have a very physical job.

Good luck to you!!
