Hi all.

My little girl is almost 9weeks old and was diagnosed with laryngomalacia at 4weeks after taking her to dr for sounding congested/like she was snoring all the time.
She was then admitted to hospital as she was having chest retractions when breathing. Thankfully with meds she seems much better

Anyone else out there who has a little one with this? x

My son (now almost 4) had this as young infant. The first time we took him to the doctor because he was "squeaking" and the dr. suggested maybe big brother had given him something that he put in his mouth and he was choking..... ummmm...... no! After another doctor's visit, we were sent to a pediatric pulmonologist and diagnosed with laryngomalacia and acid reflux. The laryngomalacia was easy to deal with after awhile. I'm a light sleeper and had to adjust to the fact that he was going to make noise all night long and we did get tired of explaining why he squeaked. The acid reflux (that I guess goes along with laryngomalacia, not sure) was rough. He threw up several times a day/night and lost weight instead of gained. Had to take medicine and we barely survived. Doctor told us that once he was old enough to sit up on his own, he should grow out of the laryngomalacia and acid reflux. And it seemed literally overnight when he was about 7 months old, everything just quit. Hard to believe he was so tiny- now he's a 50 pound 4 year old. If you ever need to talk, let me know.

My DD had a floppy larynx, luckily apart from severe reflux she didn't have any other issues from it (no breathing or feeding problems). She grew out of it by about 7 months I think.

Olly had a floppy larynx. I would say he has grown out of it, he only squeaks and snores when he has a cold now. It did also give him silent reflux which we are still struggling with even on medication. X

DD had this from birth, it was picked up whilst in the SCBU and there was talk of operating to fix it, however they decided to wait and see if it vanished as she grew and it did! She's entirely fine now and has been since... 9 months ish? Her breathing quietened down as she got bigger and her head control grew better, which was what her consultant was hoping for. We also had severe acid reflux which was controlled with omeprazole and thickener in her milk and this resolved once she was weaned. Looking back on her baby videos I can't believe how bad it sounds though! I used to get asked if she was ill a lot by passers by XD

My little one is having a scope on 3 June to find out why she can't cry. Its either floppy larynx or a web.

Thank you all.
We are really struggling with the reflux at the moment, shes screaming at all of her feeds and crying a lot.
:(
We have a ENT appt 14th may x

Severe reflux is a terrible thing. Our Paediatrician actually recommended early weaning at 4 months because eating thicker food helps it to stay down better than milk so that could be something to consider (on medical advice only obviously). I know it's no consolation now, but it does pass. Once my LO was properly on solids the reflux did vanish and we were able to wean off the omeprazole. Also if one drug isn't working for it do go back and ask for something better :)

My second had this, and my 5 week old does too. He also has silent reflux too, but is doing ok with medication. I didn't even remember my daughter had it until I heard my wee guy breathing. I stopped noticing it by about 6mo with her.
