Yeah that's why I like Lara sounds prettier.I have a friend named Lara - this would be my preferred spelling. It's pronounced slightly different too (more "lar-a" rather then "lor-a") which I find prettier.
Chiming in on the "Lara" talk, It is my name and I really like it. I haven't met many other Lara's either.
The "Lara Croft" thing has only ever come up a couple of times in my life lol.
The only thing I can complain about is when people accidentally call me Laura.
In terms of the Laura/Lora name... I really like the look of Lora actually, but I feel as though she would be constantly correcting how it is spelt, so maybe it's best to go with the traditional spelling.
I do really like Lara!
Do you think the world is over the whole "tomb raider" link?? That's all I can think of when I say Lara!! It is pretty though & I know I would forget the link if I were using it everyday for my child. But would everyone else??

I don't think so! But maybe since my friend is Lara - I don't associate the name with a movie character. Besides - as far as name associations go... Angelina Jolie is a GREAT one!!
