I am a FTM and I have been doing nipple stimulation to try to get things rolling. When I do this I have clear fluid that comes out of my right nipple only, nothing out of my left nipple. Sorry if this is a ridiculous question, but does this mean I am not going to produce as much milk from my left breast? I really want to breast feed and am worried about the lack of leaking from my left breast. Also, what is the clear fluid? I assumed I would have colostrum or milk, but what is this clear stuff?

Thanks in advance!

That is colostrum :) it changes to look more like milk later when your milk comes in. I don't think this means you won't produce as much or enough. I always seemed to produce a little more in one side but had plenty in both. Once baby is here and you start nursing on both sides, that will tell your body to make more. Our bodies are amazing that way :)

Yeah, from all I've read whether or not you leak during pregnancy has no indication on how well your body will produce milk. I didn't leak at all with my fist and I had a fabulous supply where a friend had to wear breast pads from leaking and had a horrible supply. It can really go either way! Good luck!

Mine are the same. Can get some from right but not left. Hoping it kicks in when baby comes :)

When I nursed my son, I had a lot more milk from my left breast than from my right and my pregnancy colostrum is the same way. So for me, that held true. Still, I was usually able to get a few ounces of milk from my right, so it wasn't like I had nothing.

No indication of milk production at all :)
This is my 4th baby and ive only ever leaked twice. Once from my left breast with my 2nd bub and once this time also from my left breast. I make milk just fine ( although i did have issues with my 1st from a thyroid issue )
Also if you decide to pump when baby arrives, some people don't get much milk from pumping, which is also no indication of milk supply.

Thanks everyone! I guess I thought colostrum would look like milk, I didn't expect it to be clear. I got a little bit of colostrum out of my left breast last night, which is maybe silly but it made me happy! Haha, good to know that leakage before the baby is born isn't an indication of milk production after the baby arrives.

I think most women notice that they produce more on one side than the other! In my case my right side always produced a little more! When i would pump a couple months into nursing i would get about 4 oz from right and 2.5-3 from left
Oh and i never leak before baby comes!
