Leap pad vs???

I've not bought any of the expensive ones yet. The ones I downloaded were the "get ready for preschool" buy 3 30% off. It's his birthday in February so im going to suggest his grans etc can get him a games then.

Yes I knew the ultra had a limited range of sites it could access. I can see the logic in that they are "safe sites" I have a feeling they will improve on it for next Christmas they have to make sure the leappad is attractive to parents who are debating over androids etc. One of the reasons I could see us wanting to upgrade in the future regardless of what we went for now.

We are leaning towards a nabi 2 disney edition or a nabi jr nick jr edition for Megan ( turns 4 next month). We are also thinking about just a leapfrog laptop type thing for Jordan which looks like it may be more age appropriate. She wants to be included in everything and we wouldn't even consider buying her anything technology related this year but don't want her to feel left out with big sis playing on something. But seeing Jordan on the iPad the past week ( testing her out! Lol) she isn't ready for anything much yet. I'm more up in the air about jordans gift than megans though ATM.

I think it's a good shout to go for the "my first leaptop" which does letters I'd add their toy phone which does numbers. Then she can play "business woman".

If baby2 ever comes along those two will be on there Christmas list. As I kind of regret not getting DS some toy technology last year. He has the toy iPod thing and pretends it his his phone. I'm tempted to buy the actual toy phone just as that a toy phone!

We went out shopping and tried out both nabi and nabi jr in the store and we didn't really love either of them. We felt the nabi was older than what Megan was. Songs were listed in a long list by title only- well she can't read. Lol Anyway after much debate we've bought the leap pad ultra. We've opened it and set it all up. It took a while to download things to it, but afterwards I went in and played around and I know she is going to love it. We paid 150 but got a 30 gift card to spend that we are going to spend on games. We already bought a doc mcstuffins game and Cinderella. I downloaded some songs, videos, a hello kitty game, and a tinker bell ebook.

I think my mil is thinking of buying the leap pad 2 for Jordan even though I've gotten the laptop toy already for her to open. Im assuming we can download the same games to both without paying 2ce?

The apps that you download are good for 3 machines.

Some apps are available in both cartilage and download (the more expensive apps) The cartridges can be shared but obviously not used at the same time. However the download versions can be downloaded to 3 machines.

Re the gift cards look out for them at reduced prices ie £20 gift card for £15 etc.

We got my son and daughter one each, so if I downloada game on my daughters u can download it for nothing onto my son's too?

If anyone hasnt bought theirs yet it looks like the leappad 2 is going to be well reduced on amazon today or sometime this week due to Black Friday.

Yes as long as they are both linked to the same parent account.

Just In case their is somebody who's using their 3 copies and upgrading make sure you remove downloads from the old machine so you can download on the new machine.

Brilliant! Looks like I'll be going for download cards rather than cartridges then!

Think I seen them on Amazon, £10 for a £15 card.

My daughter has an innotab 2 and really likes it. She could take pictures etc.. and make them look funny, and take videos. She wasn't much into the games though! I think a real tablet would be better if your older LO would be gentle with it, as there is so much more to do on them :)

Yip look out for the cards being discounted.

The cartigages have the advantage of being able to be sold on, where you can't do that with the downloads but the downloads can't be lost / misplaced.

I was trying to workout why leapfrog and vtech both do cartigages as well as downloads and concluded it was a marketing ploy! The downloads are convient, and cheaper for them to produce / sell.
The cartigage on display in supermarkets increase sales via pester power and make the systems known. Also as they are marketed to young kids a lot of people would rather had over something to be opened to a young child rather than a gift card.

Toysrus here has The leap pad 2 for 1/2 price for black Friday ads.
