Learning to knit

Hiya! I have a sneaking suspicion that DH has got me wool and needles for Xmas! If not, I'll but myself some after Xmas...I've been banging on about wanting to learn to knit for ages, so...how did you all learn?

I was planning on using the youtube route...with the odd lesson from my nan of course!

I learned the basics from knittinghelp online and then bought The Cool Girl's Guide to Knitting. I'm no pro by any means but I can at least knit patterned scarves...
