So we now have a bottle warmer so we mix cold boiled water and formula immediately then heat it in the warmer but before that we were mixing boiled water and formula, letting it cool down then leaving it in the fridge as the midwife says you can leave cooled formula that was boiled in the fridge for up to four hours

my question is, can we leave formula made with cold water in the fridge before putting it in the bottle warmer? or because its not been boiled do we have to make it then and there? this makes it harder when little girl is crying for it but I do not want her to get any bugs:cry:

she has been fine so far with the cooled boiled formula in the fridge, just wanting to know if any of you other ladies leave your mixed formula in the fridge???

Hi hun, it might be different but in the UK the guidelines are to make the formula with boiling water, i make mine (with fresh boiled water) then keep them in the fridge for 12 hours, then when needed warm up in a jug of hot water xx

yeah that is what we have been doing, so I guess its safe to use boiled water then reheat them when they are needed?

I leave formula in the fridge all the time. I'm in North America so it might be a bit different. Differing companies even say different things. I've read that formula can be refrigerated anywhere from 24 to 48 hours. All my formula containers have instructions that say to mix at 37 degrees Celsius. Sometimes, I just refrigerate a bottle full of boiled water and mix the formula in as I need it. I was more of a stickler of the rules and guidelines when DS was really little but since he's old enough to have tap water I figure as long as I boil it once it's fine.

But when he was newborn I made sure to mix the formula as instructed. Even then I left it in the fridge and warmed it as needed.
