Hey ladies, I am very concerned. Friday I was experiencing very bad abdominal cramps and my period was very heavy. I also noticed I was passing something that I could only describe as tissue. So I rushed my self to the er thinking I was having a miscarriage.
At the hospital they gave me a urine pregnancy test that came up negative so I wasn't pregnant nor had I been. They checked my cervix, and took swabs to see if I had STDs and STIs and everything came back clear. On their push test on my belly I had pain so they sent me for a internal ultrasound and the tech. said my right ovarie and uterus looked beautiful but got really frustrated when he couldn't find my left. He kept asking me if i've had an ovarie removed or if i've had a history of cycsts on my ovaries, (which I never had) once he realized I was crying and upset he chilled out and acted like it was normal.
They had me go pee for the internal ultrasound not knowing that the tech. would try the external one because it was hurting me so bad. It just worries me that with an external and internal ultrasound my left ovarie was nowhere to be found.. Has anyone else had this happen and they're ovarie has just been hiding? And if I found out that my left ovarie is mysteriously gone what are my chances of ever conceiving? They referred me to a gyno. office but didn't send any records over, so now i'm just waiting for them to call me back after they get my information to set me up an appointment.
I'll take all the answers I can get! Thanks so much in advance!!

I really need someone. I haven't been able to stop crying since I found out.

Hey sweetie, I know it seems really scary right now but I've got a good friend going through the same thing, left ovary randomly missing. The good news is, having only one ovary doesn't necessarily mean not being able to conceive. My friend's doc told her that your body is smart enough to realize the issue and that your one ovary will work double time to make up for the imbalance.

Sorry about your news :(. I haven't heard of an ovary being missing before, but I do have friends who only have one "working" ovary, and they've been told they can still get pregnant. I'm sure you will still be fine to have babies with just your right ovary.

Big hugs hun!

Hi hun didn't want to read and run. When I was pregnant with my first they couldn't find my left ovary on all 3 scans I have no idea why. Im guessing I only have the one! x

Thank you ladies so much! I know you shouldn't look stuff up online but i'm like the queen of Google and I read that women who conceived with just one ovary are more prone to have children with down syndrome. It wasn't a very creditable source so i'm trying not to put too much thought into negative stuff like that i'm just so stressed out. I have another appointment Friday to get another ultrasound so i'm hoping I know what's going on after that. I'm actually also very worried about my left ovary being covered in endo. and they being why they couldn't see it, if that's the case i'd rather it just not be there! My boyfriend keeps telling me to chill and we'll figure it out I just don't think he understands how i'm feeling about the whole thing!

Hey hun :hugs: I had a missing ovary and many of my scans show this but it has been located in others scans in an odd place, above the top of my uterus. So it could be yours is hiding some where x

hi dear

dont worry, my doctor always struggle finding my left ovary. after i lost my left tube position of left ovary was changed. during my first scan after surgery doctor did not find my left ovary. he asked me to pass pee so that if my bladder is full it can hide ovary. after passing pee also he was not able to find it. then with his hand he pressed on left side(lower left side) and he found above uterus. so for you that might be possible. dont worry on Friday u will come to know. with one ovary and one tube still ur chances of getting pregnant is 84% as per my Gynec and RE.

all the best for ur scan and update ur results.

Never use Doctor Google!!!

Once I had a cold and I googled it, i thought i was dying of the plague after. I dont have any personal experience with this, but lots of women who only have one ovary conceive. I knew someone who was born with their heart on the wrong side of their body and are still healthy and normal. Dont worry, i know its hard but they will figure it all out. Its either hiding, or you dont have one and your body is doing fine without it. You can still conceive, and the doctors confirmed that. :) Hugs !
