I developed sciatica at 40 weeks pregnant. I went to the chiropractor at 40+6 and gave birth naturally in water at 41 weeks.

I thought having my baby would relieve the pain and weakness but 4 days on it's still bad.

I will go back to my chiropractor once I'm healed etc down there... but until then? I'm worried it will start to get me down and I don't know how I'll cope once DH goes back to work with baby and 3 year old...

(I'm so happy otherwise this can't get me down!)

Sciatica sadly can last for years (some people are lucky and it goes away within days!) From a professional point of view (and person as a sufferer) don't go near a chiropractor. The best thing to do for it i found is

don't carry extra weight (please don't be offended with that, you've just had a bubba i know lol) I lost three stone after Isabella was born and it is so much better

get pain under control with suitable pain relief and natural remedies. Warm baths, back support when sitting, pillow between knees when sleeping, heat packs/hot water bottle

gentle exercise such as swimming and slow walks

Once you have managed to control the pain and find some time try to do some strengthening exercises of your back and tummy.

If you want to seek professional support you are far better going to see a physio and not a chiropractor!

Good luck xxx
