My husband is a sheriff's deputy so anyone in the "family" knows the nickname for law enforcement is LEO...I want to incorporate Leo into a name because of its meaning to us, but not sure of its popularity, or a middle name. Im not a fan of Leonard or Leonardo.

My eldest son is Leo. As misspriss says, it is Latin for lion and it's a legitimate name on its own.

I've never heard of it being a nickname for law enforcement before - must be an American thing?!

Probably American, for Law Enforcement Officer.

Hmm, maybe a name which has Leo or Lio (which could be pronounced the same)?
Emilio
Elliot (probably a bit of a stretch!)
Julio
Lionel

My eldest is Leonidas, we love it :) he does mostly get called Leo tgh!

We are considering Leo for a boy (though may now go with Wyatt) it is a name in it's own right
